Caribbean T20 tournament
Hampshire v Canada on Eurosport at 8pm apparently....
For those for whom there is never too much cricket...
Somerset also in the competition, not sure what strength of squad they've sent

I've been seeing ads for this on ESPN. Didn't even know it was a comp until a few days ago. Is this the replacement for the Stanford Vulgarity Quest?

Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
Are they still using black bats? And molesting the players' wives?
Good times.
Good times.
Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
No longer black bats & molestation....
This is a brucey bonus for Somerset/Hants being unable to make the CT20 apparently. It's the West Indies domestic T20.
The current match being played in front of about 10 really pink elderly poms, 4 bored as fark cheerleaders and 4 commentators who all sound the same.
Amazingly Simon Jones is not injured, Briggs is getting a bit of a tonk and lots of the Hants youngsters have really festive haircuts. Chris Wood also needs to work out a way of looking slightly less.... er... simple.

Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
Just switched over to this. I'm sure it will turn out to be more depressing than the SE Qld flood coverage. You're right about the commentators, they all sound like Tony Cozier.
And good on the WIndies for inviting Canada to take part.

But t20 is supposed to be the form of the game that crowds will clamour to and watch in huge numbers at the expense of Test cricket...

This is the ground that the WICB built in the middle of nowhere so that those without transport would not be able to go....
Canada 129/7 SP Jones 2-20, looked ok but bowling still looks like it hurts unfortunately

Hampshire struggling at present, 63/3 off 13 overs chasing 130. 67 needed off 7 overs...

And collapsing now. 67/5, needing 63 off 6 overs. And some 12-year-old, Christopher Wood, comes in to bat...

Myburgh? Typical Saffie hack. He'll end up at Derbyshire sooner or later.
How old is Chris Wood? 12?

Why's Sean Ervine playing? He's just announced that he's quitting Hants to become a Zimbok again, thus relinquishing his Kolpak status.

Hampshire crashing and burning here.
I'd forgotten what it was like to watch an English team f*ck up a game of cricket.

Is that what they're calling it now?
Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
Jamaica look a different class to all the teams so far in terms of their fielding and bowling attack.
They had Jerome Taylor and Andre Russell bowling 90mph yorkers and Santokie bowling Vaas like left arm swing. Two outstanding run outs to get Chanderpaul and Sarwan out too.
Looking forward to Barbados vs Leeward Islands which should be a much higher standard than Hants vs Canada.

That was quite funny, Hants were playing the spinners and dibbly dobblys like England crica 1992-2009. You could see the car crash happening...
Canada also fielded like keystone cops!

Moral victory - those cheating Canucks couldn't bowl us out.
I mean them. Couldn't bowl them out.
Think I got away with it...

Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
Ha, just seen the scorecard of the Guyana/Somerset game.... Somerset had a choke of Saffer proportions.
105/3 needing 112 to win with 7 needed off 13 balls and lost it by a run
English counties really are disrespecting this tournament a bit - apart from the top 5 for Somerset, can't say I recognise many of those names...

Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
T20 in the Caribbean is such a dreary affair. Slow, low, tacky pitches, and slow outfields mean 120 is a winning score.

Re: Caribbean T20 tournament
Have to say Simon Jones is looking pretty lean and quick enough.
Hants made 136 and Barbados could only tie - Jones took 4-1-10-4
And then in the super over he took 2 more for no runs off 3 balls....
