England World Cup Squad
Right then, let's have a stab at this:
Strauss
Davies
Morgan
Bell
Pietersen
Prior
Bopara
Collingwood
Bresnan
Broad
Rashid
Swann
Anderson
Shahzad
Finn
I wouldn't take Wright or Yardy (but they'll probably both go) and I'm taking Prior as well as Davies - who says they can't both play?

I wouldn't pick Woakes as I think his bowling isn't up to it yet, but his time will come.

Re: England World Cup Squad
They might not take Wright, but they'll probably pick Yardy, and I reckon Woakes might just sneak in there, considering the alternatives are either Finn or Tremlett. One is yet to make his ODI or T20 debut, and the other is clearly not a one day bowler. Woakes is raw with the ball, but so is Finn, and Woakes has his batting as well. Likely to be-

Yards has never let us down, so I can't see him missing out.

I've got a really bad feeling that they'll pick Luke Wright.

Is this where we discuss Jay Meeow - an international reserve wicketkeeper who has never kept wickets in his life?

Matty in, Davo out: that would have been a tough conversation "Sorry Steve, we're not taking you to the World Cup, Matty has got the nod. He'll be joining the ODI squad immediately. One more thing, he'll have your spot at the top of the order on Friday"

Pretty harsh on Davies, though to be fair Prior looks more likely to get a 100.

Having said that, Davies' average is much much better than Prior's....

Re: England World Cup Squad
Bizarre non selection of Davies having not selected Prior for the last 15 games. I don't understand it - unless they really are not impressed with his keeping at all.
Yet Priors record opening is abysmal.
Tredwell.............LOL... and farking Luke Wright? I mean, some guys are going to be really dissapointed not to get the nod for this squad especialy as this clown does absolutely NOTHING on the field of play too justify selection at this level.

Re: England World Cup Squad
Davies's keeping is in the Chris Read bracket- Probably not aggressive enough and doesn't go for the 50-50 chances. Just simple things like the way he didn't grab the ball in front of the stumps the other night to pull it on to the stumps and effect a run out- Prior does that kind of thing.

It's a pity BBB is not forumming, its amazing that Prior has been selected because of his wicketkeeping. Certainly has improved to what you would call 'Alec Stewart standard'. Not a natural keeper, but has cut out the majority of stupid errors.
It's harsh on Davies but if he's good enough he'll work on his game and come back better - he's got some talent the lad.
Prior opening worries me though, doesn't really hit over the top and when he tried it in that position before ended up giving it away most of the time slogging it in the air.

Re: England World Cup Squad
The one good thing about Luke Wright is he gives me hope that I could represent England in ODIs at the world cup.
