Flat deck, Colly's favourite ground in Aus. Rest Strauss and make Colly skipper.
A lazy 45 plus 2-20 off 4 overs of dibbly-dobbly, he's a sure MoM.

This will be our 125 all out job, just like four years ago.

4-0 and a 3rd Prior blob on the spin just to show they've got the selections wrong.
They've picked a guy in Tredwell they clearly don't think is good enough. We have non threatening Yardy & bob a job Tredwell in the WC squad and yet Adil doesn't get a look in.
He'll make more runs at international level than both of those too, and is a snappy little fielder.

Bowled really well for South Australia tonight. He's in Australia. He's bowling well. He's been on the England radar for three years now. England have a problem with their current spinners. I just don't get it.

Well you can usually get a good 8 or 10 overs out of Yardwell, there's always the danger that Rashid will be hit out of the attack every other game. England's strength is pace so Yardwell should only be there if Swann's crocked to be a tidy 5th bowler. The Yardwell should though be a nippy fielder and handy bat.
Does anyone remember the 6-1 last time? Anything less than 7-0 and I think this series will also disappear from memory.

Ah yes, when Australia choked in the final game? Good times.

I remember Joe Denly opening the batting.
Also recall Owais Shah working on a theory that the best way to play Brett Lee was to get as far back in the crease as possible, without standing on your stumps.
He was out, hit wicket, standing on his stumps.

Will this be the match when the selectors see the light and move Ian Bell up to open the innings?

No. They've picked Prior to open, and to abandon that plan after to games would be admitting they'd cocked up. He's in for the long haul.
Anyway, we need Belly in the middle order. We'd be f*cked without his comfortable 20-odd before chipping a dolly to cover like a complete cripple.
Re: Australia v England, 4th ODI, Adelaide, Jan 26, 2011
Yeah, the novel idea of picking someone who actually is a specialist opener to open. OK, it didn't work out with him but it was the right sort of idea, as opposed to the "keeper has to open because Gilchrist did when Australia were dominating" approach that we're following now.Dello wrote:Eric Air Emu wrote:

Anyway with the contribution that Puke Blight made in the last game (2 overs bowled and coming in at number 8 ) we might as well replace him with another specialist batsman, if KP comes back then Colly can just be our 5th bowler.

Lawson spouting off in the paper today saying the selector's got it right for once but only by accident. They had no choice with some of the injuries. Hate the spiv wanker but he does know how to give a really good back-handed compliment.

Lawson is a fully paid up member of the NSW cricket mafia. He was full of praise for Clarke (Captaincy) & Smith (fielding) the other night but failed to mention that neither of them are scoring runs which is what they were selected for.

So is Swanny going home a good excuse for Rashid to join the squad?

On a similar note, i know Jim Maxwell is a twat but he excelled in being a prize dick during the Hobart ODI.
Apparently he hosted a local cricket forum where he proceeded to rubbish Tasmanian cricketers. (He obviously has'nt bothered to look at any of the domestic comp tables). He then insisted on calling the River end at Bellerive "the Antarctic end"
What a complete qunt.

Hehehe, I noticed the "Antarctic End" during the commentary on ABC Radio as I was BBQing. I did actually think "WTF?"

What's the point? They can't play him, as the two fit "spinners" left in the squad have already been named in the WC party. It's not like England can possibly keep face whilst selecting a different spinner over one of them in these remaining couple of games. Same reason there's no point Steve Davies still being out there - his tour's done.
Rash spent last winter mixing drinks - no need for him to do so again. He's getting games for South Australia in the Fat Gash, and he joins the Lions out in the WI very soon.
Better to be playing some cricket, says I.

Actually, if you follow the direction of the river it would be more accurate to call it the New Zealand end.

Can't believe you can still pick up Aus for 1.87..... must be counting on the law of averages

Or the Aussie habit of shatting a log at any number containing 87.
The bookies are trying to fix an England win.
