Little doubt about that, Nath, but this is CA we are talking about. Rested on their TGM/tgm laurels and failed miserably to succession plan.Nath wrote:overpaid

Did Wrighty crap in Hilditch's cornflakes at some stage? I can't believe he's never been given a go when you look at some of the other players who've been chosen over him. I suppose he was closest to a call-up just before he got injured 2-3 years ago, but in my view he's been a class player for a decade, yet consistently overlooked. Anti-Tasmanian bias?

Re: Australian State Cricket 2010/11 (II)
Could be a close finish at Bellerive. Dropped in for a couple of hours earlier today & Bailey was putting up a great captains knock. Currently 144 n.o. but running out of partners.
Tassie 277/5 needing another 42 runs with about an hour to play.

I would normally say they'll piss it in but I know you get upset when I woof your beloved Tozzies BD.

Totally agree Lardy. Wrighty has been one of the most consistant bowlers in OZ cricket for many years for both Tas & Vic. I think a lot has to do with not having the media lobby for you like they do in NSW (which i think goes a long way as to why we have so many dudders in the OZ side at the moment)

Wasn't Wright in the JAMODI squad a while back then got injured and then got too old?

18 runs to get. I think we might just be safe JGK.
Bailey 152 & getting good support from young Faulkner.

I think he was in the 'A' team at one stage. I can't recall him ever being in the senior squad, but i might be mistaken.

Outstanding chase by the Tozzies against a good attack.

When WryT was at his peak he was competing against tgm , Dizzy, the ghost and Dung for a spot.
The first three were so good that for a significant time no amount of amount bleating from the Weet Bix army was enough to get Brett Lee a Test match
When the powers of those bowlers waned WryT was probably 'too old" to be considered

Good point embee. Mind you, he STILL should be considered considering the tripe that passes for our attack these days.
Re: Australian State Cricket 2010/11 (II)
Tassie take the points. Probably the best knock of Bailey's career. 160 n.o. & under a lot of pressure. Its a pity he is'nt a tad more consistant otherwise he'd be a shoe-in for the test side.
Re: Australian State Cricket 2010/11 (II)
Well done to the Tozzies and George. It'd be great if he could kick on and compete for that no. 6 spot.

What a great win by the Tasmanians.
Bailey for number 6 and next Australian captain. Add Butterworth, Paine, Hilfenhaus, and Krejza.
Ditch Clarke, Haddin, Smith, and Beer now.
Oh, and bring Coyle in to coach, in place of Neilsen. Coyle must have something about him to winkle such good results (including a couple of ODI championships and one Sheffield Shield already) from the smallest state's squad.

Re: Australian State Cricket 2010/11 (II)
It is almost certain at this stage that this season's finale will be a replay of the Heroic Tozzies v Filthy Evil Spivs final of a few years back, won by the little champs. One of the three teams below Tassie on the table would have to win two of their final 3 games and at least take some points from their other game, and Tassie win nothing, not even first innings points in their last three games, for Tasmania to be tipped out of the final. There is even a chance of a home final at Bellerive if the Filthy Spivs trip up at some stage and Tassie's recent good form continues.
Points table after 7 games:
NSW 30
Tasmania 26
Western Aust 14
Queensland 14
Victoria 14
South Aust 10
