Re: The official DJ Smerk memorial thread
The only reason one might have for deleting their username and so all their posts appear as "guest" would have to be attention seeking. Ergo, flounce.

Brass Monkey wrote:Was his really that much of a flounce though? Hmmm, I think the term 'flounce' is probably misused. When I coined it for the departure of a forummer, it was usually because whichever forummer it was would leave a bleeding-heart-woe-is-me style new thread, telling us all how wonderful their intentions were and how we're all just Satan's little droppings. Not many would dream of doing that now, I expect that Rob's could not be called a flounce as his departure was, it seems, only highlighted by the deletion of his account, hence his username & posts turning to guest or whatever. Although, I suppose it's close to a flounce.
I seem to recall a lot of whining and threats to never darken our doorstep again.
Whether there was an official goodbye post, i"m buggered if I can remember.

You're right, logically I'm in a mess saying it's not.
Still, it's not the most conventional of flounces, said flouncers usually want a Parthian shot.
Re: The official DJ Smerk memorial thread
I think that's what makes it worse. It's even more "look at me I'm unconventional, suck it" than the standard "I'm flouncing off, here is my sook thread" strategy.

Suppose it gives less medium to promote ridicule, I mean some of the 'sook-offs' have been outstandingly woeful. The first one you wouldn't know about, on C4, but it was the 'best'. At least his way, people could only just go what a little baby rather than dissect his last words of scorn.

Nah, she flounced off on C4, then probably lurked, then joined FB1. Not sure she flounced off of that one. Jebus, Nidge, your memory's going quickly. Get to the doc's!
Re: The official DJ Smerk memorial thread
So he's basically getting his own way with the attention seeking, without many of the negatives that go with a traditional flounce.Brass Monkey wrote:vilkrang wrote:I think that's what makes it worse. I'm disliking the "deletion flounce" more and more by the minute.

Slowly coming back. Yeah she did make the jump and then got all touchy again. Was some story about Dello banning her but he denied it and her user name was still valid. You might recall Lags made the same accusation.

True viks, true. Not sure why I'm even quarter-defending it, it's pretty shambolic. Still, there's no good flounce.

Fair dues, each to their own. I even preferred Lags to her. She was either doing her sycophantic best to be like a snide SENQ, all piss and wind, or she'd mention her jugs. B. orin. g.
Re: The official DJ Smerk memorial thread
Poor Smerk. Even his offical memorial thread gets taken over by talk about how others have pulled the plug.
Why am I not surprised?

Well since his flounce was a touch weak, we have to remember the good times

Sarah. She's been a member here since we got up and running. Posts every now and then. Don't think she's outed herself, so it's not my place to do so. But she's been a fine, upstanding member of the community. Thus far.
Think we were all guilty of getting a bit giddy at the old place...

FFS Jay, now we'll all be going through the memberlists, while you sit back laughing at your joke.
