I think he realised that no one here could possibly sink to the necessary depths of banality to bother tweeting.

Fark, please don't. That would force me to bow to Y-Gen plague and get a Sh!tter account.
Isn't this place just like Twitter (when Vikas is not typing his 500 word tomes) but without the walking into fountains??

Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
There was a gizmo forumotion introduced allowing you to "cleverly" link up your forum with a Twitter account, so I figured I'd investigate before quickly surmising that it wasn't worth another second of my life.

Oh and skulls you don't need an account to view other people's stuff I don't think, I've never had an account and occasionally spy on people.

Twitter? What a load of crap. Don't even talk about that crap on here - go and find a shopping forum if you want to talk about girly crap. God, I always knew Henry was a closet wuss underneath that hard guy persona but for frak's sake. Twitter? Twitter?

Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
Twitter's actually really good. It's pretty easy to dismiss something you haven't tried.
I only recently tested it out and it is great for politics, sport, film, interesting articles, comedy and just news in general. Like most things, it depends how you use it and what you use it for. If you want to read vacuous sh*t by celebs, you can. Or if you want to follow a Libyan journalist with all the latest news, you can.
Particularly good for football if you follow Patrick Barclay, Marcotti, Brassell and all the best broadsheet sports writers as they are often waaaaay ahead of news websites and TV.
Try it. It's rather good for news and generally passing train/bus/poo time.

Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
Aye, pretty damn funny as well if you follow the right people.
TBF, I didn't sign up for ages because I thought it would be inane bollocks but I told myself to stop being a closed minded grandad and actually try it before I judged it. Good decision. I think it was Elmore Leonard who said about Facebook - "half a billion people talking to each other and what are they saying? Not a lot". You just can't say the same about twitter as it's the complete opposite. Probably the most interesting place on the web at the mo'.
It's just a constant stream of all your favourite things. I don't even need to read news websites anymore because people (often the authors) link to all the best articles from online newspapers.
Who do follow cricketwise? Seems a bit bare compared to footy. Warnie, Aggers, Simon Hughes, Vaughan, a few random cricket bloggers, anyone else?
I barely follow anyone I know on it.

Two ringing endorsements from a pair of FB's biggest 'no-lifers'.
Yep, 100% proof that Twitter is crap.

Yawn. Do you ever get bored of the angry man routine?
I've made 2 and a bit posts for every one of yours. Does that make you a half "no-lifer"?
I don't post prolix dribble on 10 other forums either. I just do it here.

Ignore Gus, he's having a bit of a crisis of identity.
I really should get an account. At the moment I just bookmark Swann, Anderson, Finn, KP & Vaughan.
Swann & Finn seem to have a bit of banter going and Swanny always comes up with a gem now and again.

Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
It's just like reading Hello magazine. Sustaining oneself off the dregs of other people's successes. Enjoy it though, you seem like the sort. I consider it to be sad. The difference between twitter and forumming is that you're trying to interact with people who are more or less on a level with you on a forum. Twitter is about everybody trying to get their taste of the celebrity lifestyle and, just like facebook, try to inject a sense of meaning into their (mostly) meaningless lives. Anyone who has nothing to say should leave Twitter alone - hence why I confine my ramblings to more private quarters. 98.5% of people on Twitter should kindly do the same - for the good of humanity. Perhaps if they acquired some basic communication skills, they would at least inject a SMALL sense of worth into their rambles.
"oh look, I just had some toast. how kool am i."
"hi guys, totally glad you're all following me. let's (note the attempt to form a bond with the customer) try and get to 1million followers (note the hook - clever marketing gimmick used by celebrities to maintain their fanbase)"
Twitter is at best a poor representation of the unintelligence of humanity. At worst, it is an extension of the corporate arm of numerous celebrities to drag their poor, deluded 'fans' further into their clutches. Nothing of interest is said, nothing of interest needs to be said. You are reading the banal reflections, and made-up occurences, within the life of somebody you can never hope to know. Though, probably in reading it, you are desperately wishing that you could.
End.

Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
What's that Jeeves? Prolix dribble? You shock me.
Yes. I do seem the sort to read news. Thanks.
What you've just said is as slack-jawed as anything on twitter. All Germans are horrible. Look at Hitler!
Everything's black and white, good and bad, right and wrong, hot and cold, gay and straight, backward and forward isn't it?
No. It's not. Most people realise that in year 4.

Yeah, I follow Swann but never seen that! You have to see it to believe it!
Jimmy's response - http://yfrog.us/16i3uz
Jimmy's actually pretty funny for a sportsman. Non stop abuse of Bres.
"Taking @timbresnan out for his birthday tea tonight. Anyone know where we can get yorkshire pudding with onion gravy in Bangalore?"
@flintoff11 You must have a lot of time on your hands to do all this tweeting. When's the next installment of 'Freddie ties his shoelaces'

Chiv, did you even read LLL's post regarding why he uses twitter? None of your ramblings seemed to apply to him in the slightest.

Nahhhh, I'm with Gus. It's a shitload of inane, boring and mainly insignificant 'disturbing dribble from the urethra'. What I dislike is that whoever you are: be you some sadarse nobody, some journalist 'doing their duty', Jimmy, Swanny - it's all self-serving, ego-bolstering back-patting. To a man, a bunch of needy wastrels.
Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
Synonym - Twitter - Inane twaddle.

Re: Flaming Bails on Twitter
Well, personally I don't really use it, and it sounds like skulls, Danny and Gus don't either, so I can assume they aren't really qualified to comment. If LLL says he can stay up to date with the latest news about his favourite subjects then that seems a pretty sensible use.
Seems to be the "in" thing to bash social networking sites at the moment. I would say you are all just old and should get with the times but Gus has only just hit puberty.
