Nasser was underrated. Lever and I, it seems, are amongst the only ones who give him a decent amount of respect.

You could add Ranji's nephew, Duleep, and the Nawab of Pataudi Sr. Like Ranji they both made centuries in their debut Ashes Test. Ranji's performance in his debut Test at Old Trafford in July 1896 was perhaps the most remarkable of any debutant. Coming in at 3 when England had been forced to follow-on 181 runs behind (as Tests were still 3-day matches the follow-on was enforceable at a 150-run deficit) he made 154* out of England's 305 (next highest score was Stoddart's 41) going from 41 to 154 before lunch on the third day.

He almost set up an improbable victory but despite Tom Richardson's best efforts (6-76 & 13-244 in the match) Australia achieved their target of 125 with only 3 wickets to spare. It was to be another 85 years before an even more improbable scenario took place east across the Pennines.
