Cricketing talent seemed to skip a generation in that family.

Don't think Ron was a bad player... quite stylish by all accounts.
Re: Best Windian to play for England
Dean Headley was a very good bowler. Look at his record. Nothing to be ashamed of at all. Won us an Ashes test in Melbourne in 98. It was a shame his back forced him to retire at the age of 30.

He was top drawer, IMO. I'd probably say he'd have been up with the very goods had his career been fulfilled by lack of injuries.

Career
Mark Ramprakash was born in Bushey, Hertfordshire, and is of Indian and English descent. His father, born in the Caribbean, was an Indian from Guyana and his mother was English.[2][3] He attended Gayton High School (now Harrow High School), and then Harrow Weald Sixth Form College.

FC average of 30 odd and test average of 15 isn't really setting the world alight.Brass Monkey wrote:Don't think Ron was a bad player... quite stylish by all accounts.
Better than me but not in the same league as his son or Dad.

True, but it would be hard to be in the same league as George.

Yeah, admit it you were wondering about the name change reason too.

I take issue with Ramps being here though, Englishman born in England to English parent shocker.
Had a Guyanese father of course but if you're going to somehow disqualify him as English.... we're such a bunch of mongrels as a nation that you would be struggling to find an 'Anglo-Saxon'

I take issue with most of the whinges about nationality, but then I'm not inherently xenophobic. Unless it's anyone from within a 50 mile radius from Northampton. Or Londoners. Or Northerners.
Re: Best Windian to play for England
Well, Pelham Warner's in this thread. You can add Lord Harris as the biggest Windian q'unt for forcing Wally Hammond to qualify for Gloucestershire because he had been born in Kent!
