Kat fighting another lone hand for NSW, Sherwood and Dame Sybil both gone, I see they've rewarded NAP Hughes for his excellent start as an opening bat by dropping him down to No 5.

Notice Matt Inness among the wickets for WA again, good to see him having a good year after looking very short-term last season.

Roger Woolley was, by all accounts, a doabolical captain, and Dean Jones had his moments, mainly in his first season as skipper (he was far better in his later stints, and was even touted by the Little Melb Paper For Stupid People as a possible ODI captain after AB retired. The laughter that proposal was greeted with was surprisingly muffled).

SOD's captaincy was legendary for being pedestrian also. One season Vic played 10 matches for two losses, no wins and the rest all draws.

"why didn't they appoint dizzy or even manou?"

Or even bignose Elliott - seeing as they still bother picking him at all. He did captain Vic to a PC not that long back.

Dizzy makes 51* as the useless crabs are dismissed for 188.

Inness (FFS) finished with 5.

WTF does Dizzy bat so low - he must be close to topping the Sozzie averages.

Kiddie II is showing a worrying trend of getting out in the 50s - today's was his 4th in 5 FC innings I think.

Dizzy should be batting at 4 or 5, but even then he'd be stranded with the Sozzie tailenders.

Justin Langer and Chris Rogers have guided Western Australia safely to stumps at 0-103 on Day 1 of the Pura Cup match at the WACA against South Australia, after the Warriors dismissed the Redbacks for 184.

Mathew Inness picked up five wickets to help WA bowl out South Australia for 184 early in the final session before Langer finished the day 76 not out and Rogers 27.

Langer was in a particularly savage mode hitting 10 boundaries and taking only 89 balls for his 76.

Going into the second day, the Warriors only trail by 81 and look set to build an imposing first innings total with the likes of Shaun Marsh, Adam Voges and Luke Pomersbach still to bat.

Ginger, you are about a million light-years ahead of your nearest challenger for Hayden's spot when it comes up for whatever reason, and it's good that you can play the Responsible Innings, but is it asking too much for you to try and score just a little faster than Barnacle Bill Lawry on valium?

He's only 18, it's not a big problem at this stage.

Just checking. 7 catches in an innings has been done twice by a non-keeper:

Most catches in an innings in a first-class match is 7 by MJ Stewart (Surrey v Northants, Northampton, 1957) and AS Brown (Gloucs v Notts, Nottingham, 1966). They were both not the keeper.

From Cricinfo see here the most catches in a FC innings by a keeper is 8 by 6 different keepers.

Meanwhile Dan Cullen must be in danger of losing his spot in the SA team, and his CA contract. He has done NOTHING this year.

Aye. Aaron Heal is twice the bowler.

Sozzies 2/50, still needing 90 to makes WA bat again...but there is a bit of rain about today...

Aye. Aaron Heal is twice the bowler.

Which says more about how bad Dan Cullen is, rather than how good Aaron Heal is.

Australian spin bowling in crisis.

No, there's still Bryce McGain. Leading wicket taking spin bowler in the Pura Cup. 21 wickets from 6 games.
