Fark knows what the goose was talking about. I'm amazed he wasn't shot. But it is hard to pull a trigger in your sleep.

Of course they are Marxists. You only have to dig beneath the thin veneer of their warm & fuzzy environmental policies to see that they are nothing more than an extended workshop of strident and diverse interest groups pushing their own barrows and narrow ideologies....doomsayer environmentalists, anti-globalisers, gender politicians, indigenous activists, welfare professionals and disappointed adherents to the 'old left'.
They are as populist and as pork barrelling as the other parties - just aimed at the hip pocket of the far left crowd.
Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (II)
Although their policies all claim to pivot around environmental concepts, their policies are nothing more than a re-incarnation of the tired old Marxist, totalitarian model.
...high levels of state ownership in the economy with a subsequent increase in bureaucracies.
...Pervasive controls on economic, social & cultural life
...inward looking & xenophobic economic policies resulting in high taxation & government spending.
The Greens are death to any western democracy.

I lifted it from 'Understanding The Greens for dummies'.
Re: Aus Federal Politics thread (II)
IMO anyone who believes that the Left owns environmental politics is missing the importance of environmental issues completely.
There ARE Greens who are Left of Lenin, but there are also conservative-leaning folk (small-L liberals?) who are intensely interested in environmental issues.

Nothing wrong with genuine environmental issues but with the Greens, it comes with a whole lot of other baggage that they try to keep hidden deep in their manifesto.
