Re: Smith out/Kirsten in?
Morkel has been very good in the last year or so. Parnell is overrated, imo.

I was thinking more of what difference in terms of changes, minor tinkering around the edges. Sometimes new blood can spot minor chunks or make suggestions that someone who has been in the job for a long, long time can't.

Best attack in World Cricket at the moment. And they'll probably get Tahir involved in tests soon which will only improve it further.

Hansie looked like he could cogitate what Lord God was saying though, AB looks like he's thinking of nothing more than crosses, runs, rugby, girls, crosses, Jersey Shore, hotdogs, crosses and runs.
Re: Smith out/Kirsten in?
I'll never forget during the last WC when AB made a ton and he was interviewed after it. As they were about to cross back to the central com box, he grabbed the microphone and said "It has been remiss of me not to thank the Lord Jesus Christ for today". It actually came out as if the Lord Jesus Christ was sitting in the stands and would be mightily disappointed if he didn't get personally thanked.

Ha haaa, that's so funny man. What a f*cking loon. I wouldn't leave him in charge of a tuck shop FFS!

Yes but Brass I always thought equally as funny was when he was asked how he copes with crises and he replied with words to the effect that whenever he's going through a rough time he puts the big man upstairs in charge of the steering wheel!

Exactly! I can just imagine him looking up at the sky asking: "God, Sehwags drilling us all over the place - what should I do?"
Leave him to organising Sunday School.
Re: Smith out/Kirsten in?
So why is it when you have a devout god-botherer batting and a devout god-botherer bowling (both of whom bother the same god) that only one of them achieves the desired result? Could it be that god is a crock...?

One scores between 50 and 150, the other doesn't go for many runs - the heathens do - and eventually gets the batsman out. It's obvious you impious bastard.
Re: Smith out/Kirsten in?
south africa has always had some very publicly devout cricketers - hansie, rhodes, etc
in the last decade or so (besides the pakistanis) hayden was one who again referred to god quite a lot. though he probably took god's name in vain more than most

They could try thinking outside the box and put Gibbs in.

That the same Rhodes who left his wife for his girlfriend? TBH I don't recall Jonty as being over devout.
Wessels was one of the main ones.

Wessels was one of the main ones.
From his profile:
Religion, though, is crucial in his life. He says he will always walk if
he knows he is out, and recall a batsman if he takes a catch on the
bounce. "The Lord doesn't like cheating," he says. Such a policy makes
bad decisions doubly cruel, but Rhodes says: "Averages are not
everything, it's also about that old thing of how you played the game."
In 1998, Jonty Rhodes played it exceedingly well.

Yeah that is really up to date.
One of the most sensational moments of the last World Cup was when Jonty Rhodes ran out Pakistani batsman Inzaman-ul-Haq with his now famous dive.
