Where possible, but there was the odd tome you needed to have at the ready at all times.lardbucket wrote:skully wrote:Fraser was the only sensible one amongst them. Still, I'm grateful for being in that window when Uni Union Fees, text books and beer were my only education expenses.

Saffie couple I used to know. I was told they had taken Aussie nationality because of the free uni.
non ozzies pay up front and through the nose ...ozzies pay a heavily subsidised and deferred fee with interest accruing at the rate of inflation until you earn a decent amount per annum and start paying it back through the tax system ...its taken out with payg so you never notice it anyway
you can also make a voluntary early payment and get a 10% bonus for doing so ...eg pay 1000 get your loan reduced by 1100

how did this degenerate into a discussion of Uni fees and accounting?
If you MUST go off track so early, you could at least post nude pictures of Nastassja Kinski or Diane Lane, make the diversion worthwhile

the other side of that skulls ...is that with the interest rate being CPI it's the cheapest loan they'll ever get ....so not paying off hecs (or wtf they call it today) is not that bad unless you actually have the spare cash available ...

Oh, that's just lovely. Nothing like that here. The wankstains took about £1,400 extra over a three year period and instead of it helping me out and them giving it back, they took it off my 'bill' at no extra charge to me.

Skully in a how to turn a thread into an anti-pinko rave shock, or
Skully using a gross generalisation to slander those who didn't bludge a free education out of Gough shock.

So, who's game?lardbucket wrote:itinerary (link)
Got tickets yet for the game 9-13 December, BD?
Zat, any other crazies ... here's a crazy idea ... instead of watching a match in Melbourne or Sydney ... have you considered combining your cricket fix with a holiday down here?
I'm gonna try to twist the Chief's arm to let me have a boys weekend down Sarf. Maybe fly in on Thursday night, catch Day 1 and 2 live, get on the good red with lardy, BD and any other drunkard that wishes to join in, and fly home Sundy. It might well be my birthday and Christmas present rolled into one, but wot the fark. Sounds grouse.

Re: 2011-12 Test series in Oz - tickets now on general sale
I last studied full-time in 1995 and my HECS debt has been inching towards Cape York ever since. Last statement I think was $3200. Not a brass razzoo has been paid back, and it has absolutely no effect whatsoever on my credit rating with the banks, who have never shown any interest or asked for further details when I mention it. It may as well be Monopoly money.
Last summer I endured days 1 and 2 at Adelaide and day 3 in Melbourne. I hope to make it to Adelaide again before it gets concreted in, and maybe it won't be quite so hot or Oz so incandescently sh!thouse.
EDIT: Embee: Close except no offshore tax havens or any of that other crap needed. One year, 2001 I think, I got within $50 of the threshold and it panicked and jumped another $1500-$2000 and I haven't got near it since.

His offshore tax havens and intricate web of family trusts and bucket companies keep his income below the threshold required to start repaying
