My 60th birthday: I bet we don't lose the Ashes in the meantime.

Could be a safe bet, Bas.
I like your confidence. Dec 21, 2012 is Doomsday.
I hope we are still having a laugh in here.

I hope the Assassin and the Mon-keh are right - around about Sept 2013.

Re: April 29 2019
It's all a long, long time in cricket - a year even is. But I reckon Sep 2013 may be too tough a task, if our bowlers remain the same (and hence in form) - we do feast like gluttons in our own conditions. But the return leg (**pukes** a few months later!!!), I can see the overturn, for sure.
Re: April 29 2019
Aus actually played better in 2009 than they did last year. Far too long to confidently predict anything...
86/7 to 1989 was what 2, 2 and a half years. From home humiliation to dicking us good and proper away from home.
Though you have to say English cricket is in far better shape these days than it was back in 1989.... perhaps that was the low point, even moreso than 1999.
1989 was the greentop 3 day county cricket era, where you just had to bowl medium pies to look like a world beater. Man we passed off a load of old dross as 'test cricketers' back then...

Re: April 29 2019
Aye, I'm not confident in my prediction as such, but just 'on the face of it' that's my feeling. 1989 was immeasurably different. Nothing like it now. F*ck they used to coast along. But yeah, I wouldn't necessarily be surprised at any of the three outcomes in a series two years away. Massive amount of cricket to be played between then. In ways, I couldn't confidently even name 7 players each in those sides.
Re: April 29 2019
By September 2013, James Pattinson & Patrick Cummins will have developed into the Lillian Thomson of their generation. No team will be able to reach 200 in an innings against them.
Dunno if we can find some batsmen to make more than 200 though.

And Broad and Finn will have developed into tall, pretty boy versions of Trueman and Statham.

I'd be reasonably confident we'll win the next Ashes at home. The world can't remain turned upside down forever. Stands to reason.
