Indian bodies not suited to fast bowling.
Pretty pisspoor 'explanation' really.

What a load of rubbish from Zaheer. The Indian bowlers are just unfit and lazy, who after signing their first IPL contract and making their first million, drop their work ethic and fitness levels (consciously or otherwise), which then leads to them dropping their pace (consciously) in order to preserve their bodies as a compromise to the lack of fitness work they are now doing.
Even the fittest fast bowlers get injured- Look at Allan Donald and Brett Lee. The difference with them was they never dropped their work ethic and fitness levels throughout their careers, which meant they bowled close to and occasionally beyond 150kph into their early 30s.
It's nothing to do with their bodies naturally being unsuited to fast bowling. It was widely observed on India's tour of England that the England team conducted much more rigorous fitness training sessions compared to the Indian team.
The bottom line is- Do the work, and you'll maintain the pace.

I wonder how kapil dev managed to bowl 30 odd thousand deliveries in test cricket.

Have you heard about the rugby world cup? Only one team from the 2007 semi finals is still there.

Zaheer gave the real answer, and didn't realise it - HARD WORK. He played a whole season for us in 2006 and kept himself fit. The likes of Ishant Sharma they've put the hard yars in if they've bowled 6 successvive lots of four overs in IPL bollocks.

If Ishant was English and around the England team he'd have half a stone more muscle on his frame and conditioned enough to be bowling decent length spells consistently in the high 80s. Instead he's some frowning effeminate llama whose action drops off after a few overs because he's struggling like buggery to keep going. Either that or he bowls longer spells in which he doesn't even bother to bowl full tilt.
Re: You know, if an Aussie said this, it'd be called racism.
When he burst on the scene, he looked the real deal. But on current form,he's a lightweight.
I would love to know what Feltch makes of all this - it must remind him of English cricket in 1999, and that is just about the biggest insult you can hurl at a team.

Yeah, he looked the business. He did at U19s level when he played us. Then in Australia. He can still do well, hopefully someone can change his whole work ethic and forge him into a non-failure.
As for Felch, I'm sure he's wondered many a time WTF he's gotten into.

I think he's one of those people who enjoys the journey more than he enjoys arriving.

Hardly. He'd been out of work for a few years and jumped at the opportunity to make some $$$ before he retires permanently. He knows that any suggestions he makes (especially if they involve hard work and perhaps resting certain players from the IPL) will be dismissed pretty quickly by the BCCI and the all powerful senior players.
He'll do the job for another 18 months then retire with a couple of million in the bank.

Aye - being the Indian coach must be the cushiest job in the game. Make big promises, get a big contract, tell the players they are lazy qunts who need to work harder if they want to succeed, get sacked following a player revolt, retire happy.

So why is it whenever any Aussie says somethig with the slightest negative slant about Indians, the race card is played spang? Am I missing something?

What the f*ck is this, Buckeroo c. 2008 or something? I'd actually like some recent examples.

Get with it Zat.
They've not used the race card for a few years, they now use the 'precious' card. It reads.... 'anything written by a non Indian about Indian cricket, IPL or India and is not kissing backside is to be construed as an insult.'

Its all genetics, Asian bodies aren't suited to fast bowling. Just ask Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, Waqar Younis, Fazal Mahmood, etc. Heck even Shoaib Akhtar and Play it again Sami could bowl 90mph+ for a spell or two, even if they didn't know where it was going to land.
Re: You know, if an Aussie said this, it'd be called racism.
It's like when African Americans use the word n*gger- It's ok if they use it amongst themselves, but an outrage if a white person uses the word.
So if Zaheer says Indian bodies aren't suited to fast bowling, then no one bats an eyelid, but if a whitey says it, then Shastri, Gavaskar, and all kinds of other sooks come out and condemn the entire western World, such is their insecurity.

Zak certainly didn't have a body suited to fast bowling when he arrived in Pomderterre.

Buckeroo reckoned Muslims could bowl fast but other Asians couldn't.
