You don't have to have a golden era to win a shield so don't know what the point is but WA's golden era was certainly the 70s. There have been thinner pickings in recent times.

If it looks like Red attempting to slip out of a faux pas, and it smells like Red attempting to slip out of a faux pas, the chances it is Red attempting to slip out of a faux pas.

Re: South Australian cricket
She's f*cked it giganto here... it'll take some Karti-esque backtracking to get out of this one.
Place your bets. I reckon she'll give it the: "Just because you win the Shield, doesn't mean it was a golden period."
What about you chaps?

Re: South Australian cricket
My premise is basically on the basis of the number of elite players they sent to the Aussie team during this period.
It's been much more barren in recent times in comparison.
Atm, Qld is the shield leader but where is its representatives?

Totally sh!t backtracking, Red. Abominable, in fact.
Still you do seem the type who is never, ever, ever wrong. Ever.

Fark, talk about moving the goal posts. We've moved to a totally different sport.

Re: South Australian cricket
By my rough count (and with some asterisks on origin)
9 players debuted pre 1970
17 players debuted in the 70s (WSC probably caused /brought forward 7 debuts)
9 players debuted in the 80s
8 players debuted in the 90s
9 players debuted in the 00s
and Goodwin Mullally and McCague came out of the Wozzie shield team to play for Zimbabwe and England in the 80s/90s

Re: South Australian cricket
WA also technically produced Mallett and Jenner in the 70s. Both were part of Australia's top mid-70s teams - both went to SA because they couldn't break into WA's strong squad.

this is why Red and Taips actually get on well (taips never being wrong either)- it is a sybiotic relationship with co-dependency aspects...their choice of avatars speak volumes

Re: South Australian cricket
Actually I don't think I moved the goalposts in any case. It was a golden era in the 70s for WA by any measure - test reps., trophies etc. In fact the latter counted more then because teams invariably played with their full complement of test men.

More like you just invoke sarcasm rules.
BTW never wrong. Since when has Charl spelt his surname Langeveld?

Your compatriots didn't deny that. You painted the picture of it being exclusively then, like they didn't have test reps and trophies since. You got corrected. Then shat your knicks. Quite a poor display.
