Aus vs India, 1st Test, Melbourne, 26-30 Dec (I)
It's almost here.
My team for the 1st test,
Sehwag
Jaffer
Dravid
Laxman
Sachin
Ganguly
Laxman
Dhoni
Kumble
Zaheer
RP
Ishant ( )
Oh well. Will have to accept Munaf's not picked. Yuvraj unlucky to miss out but it'd be better if the concerns about Sehwag are settled in the 1st test. The match against Vic will be important.
Australia's probable line-up?
Hayden
PJaques (or however you spell his name)
Drunky
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Gilly
Hogg
Lee
Johnson
Clark

Surely they can't drop Yuvraj a Test after he scored 169. Open with Dravid, and bat Laxman at 3.
And why the eye roll for Ishant? Looked good, imo. He'll never get better if he never plays.

the team is alright. But the two newbie right arm pacers have no peer. That is the only concern. Sreesanth if included would have been good, but he is no peer. AarPee and Zaheer are not good communicators.

AarPee and Zaheer are not good communicators.
How does that affect their ability to bowl? They were the main reason India beat England last summer.

What I meant was they can not mentor the new kids who are right arm pacers. I have seen many matches wherein similar bowlers playing alongside Munaf have helped the team win the contest.
Only exception to that recently has been Munaf+Pankaj combination in India Greens during challenger where Munaf failed himself and his colleague. But then he came back against Mumbai in Ranji.
Australia would have been the perfect place to test him out. In fact BCCI rested him on many an occassion giving the upcoming Aussie tour as the excuse.
All that for this.

Dude, Munaf is not going to Australia so it's pointless pondering over it now. Besides, the newbies can't do any worse than him effort wise.

LOL you talk as if Munaf 'my izzat is at stake' Patel is some kind of Tony Robbins esq motivator - a lazy, unfit huffing and puffing 'fast' bowler wouldn't motivate many.
Come on he's had every chance given to him by the bcci and failed to prove his fitness countless times....he makes shoaib akhtar seem like Lance Armstrong fitness wise.

Against anybody other than India i would play 3 quicks and a spinner at the mcg.
We haven't really done it in the past like other teams but i think we need to prepare pitches to suit our strengths and right now we should be getting tracks with a bit more life and playing 4 seamers.
India will be preparing turning tracks for us we should give them a bit back.

I totally agree....green tops with steepling bounce and ganguly banned from wearing more than the basic protective items...he'd be taking block from square leg

Re: Aus vs India, 1st Test, Melbourne, 26-30 Dec (I)
You cant' just click your fingers and produce a track with pace and bounce. That's been proven at Perth in recent years. The MCG is likely to be low and slow, the SCG will be ok and offer something for everyone, Adelaide will be a road as usual, and Perth will be a bit quicker than the last couple of years, but still nothing for the Indians to really fear.
Also, apart from the one eyed's that post here, the Australian public and Cricket Australia want a tight, competetive series after the Sri Lanka dissapointment.

Im not saying we need unplayable seaming tracks, just a little bit of grass on the pitch to give the bowlers at least a fair shot.

And even with a bit more life in the decks i think the series will be tight we just need to give ourselves the best shot we can of winning.
Oh and trev please mate don't start coming out with crap about one eyed fans, people will have to update their signatures again.
Just try and keep your hypocritical unintentional comic value rubbish to a minimum.

and some bounce...i think mudge's pitch assessments are a little off beam...the G will offer the quicks something over the first couple of days and then slow out...the adelaide oval will be firm and offer bounce (it is not a slow track but one where little movement occurs)

I want a nice tight series between India and Australia. You want a 4-0 Australian thrashing. Who's being one eyed? Unlike you, I watch sport for it's entertainment value, not because it satisfies some deep seeded need to see Australia walloping other nations in a sport so that I can somehow be re assured that my country in general is superior.
