I don't think Bradman will get to 9000 runs.

sehwag well might. assuming he isnt kicked out before he gets to 9,000. 10,000 seems impossible

sehwag hit by the curse of the 9000s as well? hard to see him getting back and getting the 500 runs he needs

I reckon it will be touch and go with Graeme Smith. He's already got Irish citizenship thanks to his wife, and there is likely to be a rather lucrative offer from Surrey in the pipeline. Word is he'll retire from international cricket after the World Cup, or before, if he's not selected in the squad.
Michael Clarke would be my other pick. His dodgy back means he has about two years left max, and he's currently on 8019 runs.

If anyone goes on to break Sachin's record it will be Sanga, especially if he keeps fronting up the Bangers.

Hardly. He's 36 and still 3000 runs behind. And Sri Lanka don't play enough tests.

They've got no other openers, they'll need him for a fair while yet.

Smith has just announced his retirement!
We have a winner!
Not sure what Red's going to do now.

Mahela, Sanga, and Shiv would be the three main contenders to retire with 12,000.

It's a big drop off after those three now, who must all be near the finish line themselves. Cook and Clarke are young enough to reach five figures, De Villiers and Amla as well, but so many great batsmen have retired recently that there's a bit of a vacuum developing, as I've highlighted in terms of openers particularly. A bit like when the great bowlers retired 5-10 years ago and suddenly there was barely anyone active with over 300 wickets.

I guess Kohli will be up there soon enough. Pujara as well. India play a lot more test cricket these days so you can imagine they'll be piling on the runs. Even David Warner (FFS) is starting to look like he might have a 100+ test career in him with an average in the low to mid 40s. Kane Williamson, Joe Root......there's a few guys who could potentially be considered "very good", maybe even "great" in years to come....
