Never rated Richards so carry on. He's never done much on SA TV anyway.

Atul Wassan and Shamim Choudhary are also in the running for worst commentators.
Scratch that, Lakshman Sivaramakrishnan.

Cullinan's a TQ. Do like both Pollocks though. I was actually on about Graeme, but like Shaun a lot. I may start a thread...

Naz is good - shoots from the hip.
The rest of them, bar blubbering Botham (who always states the obvious), are also all tops ... though Gower does like the sound of his own voice when interviewing.
Knight is a bit of a patronising prick (in ODI's and T20's) and Allot's just meh ....

Cullinan wasn't bad but because he's a total qunt I didn't like him. Graeme is gash.Zulu is a bit odd sounding.

You haven't heard him doing domestic matches. Farking prat never stops about how he converted Ashwin into a bowler from an opening bat and memorises farking gold prices and spews them out on air. I buy a farking newspaper.Brass Monkey wrote:tricycle wrote:

Shastri is beyond hopeless, can we classify him as a commentator though? He does pander to the BCCI needs, he's more a spokesperson.
Ien Smeth is okay when he's in an away commentary box, a complete wankfest in the sky NZ box though.
Thank fark, I can't remember Neville Oliver.

Decent match for a Twenty20. Pietersen played another intelligent, unselfish match-winning innings, his third of the tour. Some would argue it was only his third in an England shirt. I like what we've seen from him since the Test series though. Whereas somebody like Morgan has carried on playing in the same wretched way, Pietersen put in a lot of hard work in those first two ODIs and has come out of the tour with a lot of credit, at a time when the vultures in the media were very keen indeed to administer a killer blow in terms of his England career. He has proven again that he is our most talented batsmen, and one of the few players in the team prepared to work hard to keep his international career progressing for as long as possible. He has given himself the best preparation for another hard tour in Sri Lanka. It must surely be entering the England selectors minds to force him up to open in Tests in place of Strauss, who is very much on his last legs.

Misbah's cautious batting with an almost hour-long 28 probably cost them the match. The Paksters' problems are the reverse of England's - while they can be satisfied with the make-up of their Test side their limited-overs cricket needs urgent attention especially from the point of view of batting and fielding.
It may be wise for Misbah, skilful leader though he is, to concentrate on Test cricket and for Pakistan to adopt the England approach of having separate captains for each format of the game. Umar Gul might be a candidate for the 50-over game assuming it does not interfere with his bowling and one or other of the Akmals for the T20 format.

Can one extrapolate though so that we're using performances in ODIs and T20s to equate with what they might do in the test arena? Pakistan is a competent test unit which plays to its strengths but is pretty underwhelming in the shorter forms. Does that mean that KP making a few runs in these shorter formats will translate to him OPENING in the tests, when he was pretty clueless in the longer form where quite frankly the pressure was applied a lot more.

What England can learn from these shorter form successes is the importance of rotating the strike against the spinners. They need more energy and intent when playing against top quality spin. Stay on strike against the likes of Ajmal for too long, and you're a sitting duck.

And technical stuff like using your feet, and getting to the pitch of the ball (pitched up) .... or waiting and playing each ball on its merits.
It's not brain surgery.
It's just skill and application.

A nightmare of a chase from Pakistan
Misbah's place in the t20 side has to be questioned now, for the T20 i personally will have Shahid bhai as the captain and Imran Nazir instead of Misbah.

Aye, Dernbach loves it all too much. He's a typical Gen Y type, Midge-style. Fortunately his mum hasn't told the media how he's purdy and that his missus is a nasty sket. There is time though.
