Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
Kirk Edwards has looked awful in ODI's because he struggles to rotate the strike so adfter a few matches he was dropped. Would still pick him above Johnson Charles though, who is only playing because he is from St Lucia, the home of the President of the WICB, the CEO and the captain. His stats are awful.
Benn is out of favour because he had a go at Otis Gibson during the World Cup and he is seen as being too close to Gayle, Sarwan and the WIPA. Tbh, Bishoo and Narine are miles better than him anyway.
Simmons , Barath and Rampaul are all injured unfortunately.

It's mental that without an even-handed board, the cronyism can jump right back in.
Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
Yep it's absolutely crippling tbh. How is one supposed to compete with Australia when the lineup is being selected for non-cricketing reasons?
I'll still watch them all avidly as soon as I get home from work, and I wish them all the best, but it certainly wont hurt as much if we get spanked 5-0.

Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
Johnson Charles had a decent T20 tournament but the notion of him playing for the senior side is a little scary though. Especially considering he averages 20 in List A matches. But there is a serious lack of depth of batting in the Caribbean. But Simmons and Barath are injured and I want Kirk Edwards to focus on test matches and someone has to open so I guess they are gonna roll the dice with Charles. I would have asked Chanderpaul to open but the coach and the WICB seem to be trying to push him out especially in the shorter format.

The first practice match at the Windies camp is taking place today. Some interesting scores already.....
Ramdins XI 313-8 off 50 overs (Pollard 155, Charles 0 (1), Best 6-44, Sammy 0/77)
Sammy XI 283 off 50 Overs (Sammy 73, Stoute 65, Bonner 52, Smith 4/55)

Add Simmons, Chanderpaul and Gayle to that lineup and it looks pretty good. Unfortunately we all know that won't happen anytime soon.

Excellent. Another triple for Pup?
If his troublesome back recovers.
Jerome Taylor appears to have dropped off the radar.
When will the soon to be 31 Pup drop that sobriquet?
As a kid in Melbourne we put soubriquets on the fire in winter. They were made from degraded brown coal and stank to high heaven and left a layer of soot all over the ceiling.
Actually the variant sobriquet has been traditionally used in Australia. A bit like we say questionnaire, not kestionnaire as they say in France.
Awesome form btw WIFAN from Pollard.

Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
Looks like they will be taking sixteen for the test tour which is one of the largest contingents outside an Ashes tour. They took this number to England in 2009 but that was for five tests.

Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
I guess eleven of them will really be looking forward to a decent rest after Easter.
Fitness permitting (and because of the absence of the likes of Clarke), Dave Warner may end up playing something like 25 or 26 consecutive international matches played by Aus from end of November 2011 to Mid April 2012. Add his BBL stint and he is gonna be one tuckered out young man.

Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
plus OP and watto are sure to get injured and the GCS will get tired slogging the windies around..
must say it is interesting that CA only want to have 15 contracted players but will take 16
guess they're ruing giving the likes of YT, fuse, nix, u koala, horrors piles of dosh for little return...Nix is paid a monstro amount and was lucky to keep his place in the underperforming dubber teams

Beer has had a recall. Not sure why as Lyon is also going. Marsh has been omitted & the rest picked themselves.
Full Squad:
Australia squad: Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, Michael Beer, Ed Cowan, Peter Forrest, Brad Haddin, Ryan Harris, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mike Hussey, Nathan Lyon, James Pattinson, Ricky Ponting, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner.

7 wickets in an innings vs the Dubbers is like taking 21 in an innings against a normal team
Davis is unlucky that his 1000 wasnt enough to get a spot ....

5 quicks plus watto and 2 spinners
6 specialist bats plus watto
1 fair keeper/bat plus 1 tourist backstop
if 2 or 3 of the batsmen are out of form we have limited options

Re: Aus tour of West Indies 2012
According to Marsh Haddit is probably pencilled in for the Barbados test but it's anyone's guess after that. The pressure is on and if Wade keeps well in the limited overs fixtures, he may get a test gig later in the tour.
