Woody - Leonard Cohen doesn't have to be depressing:

I might save Janis Ian up for the Ashes

Good bowling by Shillingford. His action definitely seems better than it was before. If Ajmal is allowed to "bowl" then they will have to let Shillingford do his thing.

I notice from the commentary that he's still doing his doosra thing.

I was referring to Australian cricketers as any Aussie who plays first class cricket, not the eleven in the national side.
Michael Di Venuto did OK the other day. As did Chris Rogers.

They're calling it a doosra but looks more like a top spinner to me. It does not really move from leg to off but really just goes straight on and bounces some more.

incidentally I note the Clarke discard with koo is leading a fightback, being undefeated at stumps...must not be fun for him knowing Clarke would prefer to have the modern definition of an over the hill cricketer - Haddit - in the team

Ugh, fark having a job that requires me to get up at 5.00 am. I have no staying power to watch overnight sport anymore (and no, I don't drink coffee or scoff NoDoz).
Actually made it through the ultra-tedious first session, barely. Then dozed off in the seeming comfort of a 1 for plenty scoreline. Woke up after Tea just after Paris got out. 6-164 woke me up in a disappointing hurry. Then Rhino got out and I said "Fark this" and went and caught some more zees.
Ironically, Weed and Koo then put on an unbeaten 40-odd.
Watson is the Mark Webber of Aus Cricket. Lots of creditable performances but never gets the big result. Warner and Moo just don't cut it, Drunky is gone, and unfortch the mighty Paris is nearing 100 years old. Looks grim for the coming summer v Yarps.
Watched the Foxy highlights. Some impressive bounce and turn from Shillingford to nail 4 quick middle order wickets to provide me with the shock wake up score. Hopefully that augurs well for Elmer.
I think I might take Woody's advice and IQ it tonight.

Ponting looked terrible. Probably the worst I have ever seen him bat. Indecisive footwork against the quicks (going back when he should have gone forward etc) and groping in the dark against Shillingford. It was like watching him trying to play Harbhajan in 2001, but also being not 100% confident against quick bowling either. The sign of a batsman in decline is if the only shot he still plays well is the clip off the hips- That's a shot that never leaves a batsman. But I can't remember him playing any other shot with any sort of confidence.
If he's "guaranteed" to play against South Africa in November, then I reckon Steyn and co will be licking their lips.

Agreed, Trev. Hopefully he mercifully retires at the end of this tour.

Hmmm, laughing at us on a thread where your team has scored 212/7 against the 8th ranked team? Astounding.
BTW, by 'did OK' I mean that Di Venuto has 76 runs @ 19 and Rogers has 158 runs @ 19.75.

Now that Ponting's been reverse Trev'd, I'd lock him in now for a couple of centuries against the Saffies.

So you originally had Monday and Tuesday off ... and sometime in the last week you threw in that opportunity so that you had to get up at 5 to go to work today? Why?

Deja vu for the Windies. Once again having trouble bowling out the tail. Frustrating.

What is it with the Windies when bowling against the tail? They become clueless. I reckon Swanny will make a century against them next month.

Good innings by Wade, bloody irritating from the Windians. Australia could well make 350 now.

WI: making batsmen look shit, making non-batsmen look brilliant since 2011.
