Interesting series, I enjoyed watching it, even if much of it was via the Sky Plus fast forward button as work has been ridiculous!
Anyway, both teams are still in very much the same position IMHO. Australia are decent and on the improve but have a number of flaws that teams can expose (weakness versus spin, weak opener in Cowan, ordinary spinner in Lyon). The pace bowlers bowled a relentless line and length all tour which was particularly impressive, and Clarke looks like an excellent attacking captain.
West Indies have a very decent looking bowling attack but are being held back by some awful batting and a lack of killer instinct. Over the last 12 months we have let strong positions slip in nearly every test match. We desperately need Gayle back and are crying out for a wicket keeper who can make some runs. Hopefully Ramdin V2 will fit the bill. Kemar Roach was the biggest positive, he was the best pace bowler on display by some distance and looked back to his best. If he bowls like that, he could be absolutely deadly in early season English conditions. We shall see.
Our tour of England will be an interesting one. Our pace bowling stocks are very strong on this tour and I reckon we will cause the England batting lineup big problems. However, getting runs on the board is going to be a huge issue, and one which I doubt we will solve until Gayle gets back in the side, Edwards returns from injury and the keeper starts scoring runs.

Followed this test series when I could. Another missed opportunity in the cricket world. If the West Indies had a full deck to choose from, something tells me this could have been the best WI/Aus series since the days of Waugh v Ambrose.
Ramdin in for the England series? DAFUQ?

Looks like Pup has changed his tune after Weeds ton.

Not sure if i agree with him. Weed's ton was pretty scratchy & he struggled prior to that. I think he needs more consistancy if he is to play soley as a batsman.

Crikey, he's apparently desperate to get Haddit back in if he's talking about Wade as a specialist bat. FFS Pup, let it go. Haddit is done and dusted. Weed is the future.Big Dog wrote:Looks like Pup has changed his tune after Weeds ton.

I firmly believe Haddit would've struggled to catch that 2nd innings offering from Bravo, that Weed snaffled low to his left. Weed is superior in glovemanship AND batting. Pup needs to concentrate on more important things like "who will replace Drunky, and where can we find 2 decent opening bats?".
