As soon as I posted that, Tino came on and gashed the joint out.
Mind the cut strip, Tino.

This is my problem, it's easy to 'false dawn' it when there has been some of the most woeful wide, half-tracky shit that a side can come up with.
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd ODI, The Oval, 19 June, 2012
Ton up for Cook. Ton at the top of the order again! 6 in a row! Crazy for us, anyway.
Cook, Cook, KP, KP, Bell, Cook.
Highly doubtful that's ever happened for us before.

Too easy in the end. 238 was never enough, with Tino as strike bowler.
I genuinely thought WI had the firepower to gash us in this series.

I doubt we've ever had 6 ODI centuries in a year before, never mind in consecutive games by openers...

doctorspin wrote:WIFAN, you know I have a soft spot for WI and I love watching Gayle smash it in that cool way; but that was out; pad first. The ball deviated onto the bat from the pad. It was close, but really no doubt about it. The slo-mo replays make it quite clear.
Just saw the replay, the decision looked about right to me.
Have to admit I almost puked when I heard a Pom commentator talk about the Bellmeister.

A comfortable win. Those cracks appear to be fully covered by paper.
Times are good.

Yeah, we'll get massively found out in Australia and South Africa (as well as the subcontinent, as ever).
WI just don't have the bowlers to really offer any control in this format. Certainly when defending a fairly low total. I mean, our seemingly pedestrian top 4 won it at a canter, with the potentially more aggressive lower order players not even called upon.

Did it say how many teams it has happened for? I thought by now Allan D would've provided me with a list of matches, players, recipes, wiki links, right-wing propaganda & Yanko-adulation...
Obviously this one was too difficult for him!

According to the BBC, anyway.

Oh right, well I did think it was quite a freakish occurrence. Guarantee there'll be an 'Ask Steven' question on Cricinfo within a week!

It's good that we've got ODI series against SA and OZ coming up because I don't quite trust how well we are playing at ther moment.

I just can't fathom why they are keeping Tredwell in the mix. If ever there was an opportunity to give a young spinner a go, the next match is it. I can only assume it's because he's an off spinner, and all the young guns are either left arm orthodox, or leggies. The Windies don't really have many left handers though so it's a double mystery.
Perhaps Geoff Miller and co have just got this one badly wrong.

Nice work by Engulund. Next best after their current record 6 straight ODIs with an opener making a ton is 4 straight.

....if only you had Trevved him. This would have prevented any thoughts about hs selection from Miller et al

Watched the first innings & it looked like the Windies had made a game of it. Seems without Roach they are crap.
Re: England v West Indies, 2nd ODI, The Oval, 19 June, 2012
I've been extremely disappointed with both their batting and bowling. As much of a contest as India gave us.
