I agree with all of the above but those who would qualify for consideration for an all-time Test XI (without necessarily being included) probably limited to Lara, SRT & Warne with Gilchrist as wicketkeeper.

Gooch not the only prolific player to make an inconspicuous debut - Hutton made 0 & 1 in his first outing against New Zealand at Lord's in June 1937. He made 100 (exactly) in the next match though.

Can't recall seeing an international cricketer look so uncoordinated at his specialty.
