Religious People
It's Sunday.
Every Sunday in the UK we have a rubbish programme on TV involving religious people - their views, their sense of equality, their perspective on the important things, etc. I dunno what it's called.
"Let's all w@nk over religion," is what it should be called.
Basically, it's bollox.
Now, I'm not afraid to say that this whole programme riles me up. I sit there watching it as the Bishop of Young Boys Arses comes on and spouts a load of crap about moral blah blah and whatever. Or else another week they'll have the Chair of the Islamic Chair Society talking about wherever or whenever.
Now, if I believed in an imaginary friend, and took guidance from said imaginary friend on life, love, sex, etc., I don't think I'd be accepted and humoured very much.
If myself and a friend believed in the same imaginary friend and took the same guidance, I think it would be considered to be very much a case of folie a deux.
YET when these motherf*ckers come on spouting sh*t about faith and acting like spiritual pillars of the community, everybody is in their faces, sucking them off, patting them on the back, acting as if their opinion is worth a damn.
Religion is a load of bollox.
You know why people - politicians etc., give a f*ck about them?
$$$$$££££££
I say let's start a war against religion so I don't have to watch this sh*t on a Sunday. I say let's make Sunday national hardcore pornographic day. Let's make it a day of blood sports and crazy. No more of this worshipping god and praying to imaginary people. No more bullsh*t.
Oh, and if any of you reading this believe in god - you suck.

Re: Religious People
religion is "the opiate of the masses", as a wise German fellow wrote a long time ago...
I am with the militant anti religios...crazed people be they in Rome bannieland, hollywood or the mid east get people killed...they preach against contraception and cause the spread of AIDS, encourage insane reproduction rates and promote wars...all religions are the bane of rationality (aside from RD)

Aye.. most deities are dicks. Ba'al-Hamon though, he was a bit of a geezer. How can you not love Him and want to talk about Him?

Trust a Roman to be ignorant of us Carthaginian's deities. You, sir, are beyond the pale.

"beyond the pale" is one of my favourite expressions...I am honoured to be included among the wild Irish savages!

Re: Religious People
You Romans just robbed off the Greeks all day long... TBH, it's a little bit 'needy'. I've always felt sorry for your ilk. Just imagine the ignominy of being told to worship some foreign god under a different name... oh.

Re: Religious People
It seems we are in agreement. Religion is a bogus pastime based on a bunch of fiction made up by various cultists in the dark ages.
[Name and address withheld so my house doesn't get burned down, and my wife and daughters raped and stoned to death, while I am hung by my ear lobes forced to watch, before I bleed to death after having my nuts cut off]

Re: Religious People
Right then, time to nail my colours to the mast. I have faith. I believe in an afterlife - I don't know whether it's hell or heaven, but I believe in the immortality of the soul. When I die, I believe that I will meet up with those who went before me. I have no proof of an afterlife, but I believe - that's all I need.
There you go, that's me. I have no problem with anyone who disagrees with me - don't give a stuff actually.

This is the only outcome that would have me believe there is a God and a Heaven. Of course, I wouldn't be able to come back and tell anyone about it.G.Wood wrote:Won't he just say "Hello Shane" like the rest of us?
But I guess by definition, as a non-believer, I am a heathen and doomed to go to Hell. I hope the Devil is a good 500 or Euchre partner.

Re: Religious People
500.
Now there is a game that is tragically dying out in Aust. I blame friggin' TV Poker and the dickhead who decided that it constituted sport and put it on Foxsports. Pretty much none of the Gen Ys I work with know how to play it.
There is only one 500 app that I can find on the iTune App store as well and it is shit.

Agreed, MrK and h. I loved 500 but haven't played it in a while. I learned Bridge but it was very complex and us newbies (in a work group who played at lunch time) had to use bidding crib handbooks.
