Arise, Dame Kylie
...or some other such New Year Honour.
What the hell has she done to deserve it, apart from sing carp?

Oh dear, I hope this doesn't devalue the whole Honours system.

It was on OBE wasn't it? I'm not even sure why she qualifies - maybe she has a UK passport?

Australia has opted out of the UK Honours system. We now have our own carp version of it.
Are you sure Lara has been knighted?

I think it was for surviving cancer. Parky got a knighthood for just surviving. Didn't Keating stop the practice of putting the names of Australians' citizens forward for UK honours on a separate list (although I think state premiers can still do so)? Kylie's name appears in the UK list so Gordon Brown must have put her forward (as he is entitled to do with any Commonwealth citizen). I think she's mainly resident in Paris so maybe Sarko will give her the Legion d'Honneur too.

Ah, maybe not - don't really pay that much attention to it.
Kylie has been honoured for services to music in the UK it seems.

I'm for a Republic, but while we've got the monarchy we might as well make use of an honours system that actually means something.
Who gives a flying potato if someone is an OAM? At least the titles "Sir" and "Dame" carry some weight in the eyes of the people.
As for Brian Lara, no, he hasn't been knighted.
Cheers.

Yeah, think about people who actually earned their MBE like Paul Collingwood.

I tried that when we won the Ashes back 5-0. I didn't even get a response to my email. Screw the monarchy.Anniyan wrote:Someone tell the Queen to Knight the whole Aussie Team!
