Claims that he said "Watch where you put that sword missus" are totally unfounded.
Yeah - good for him.
Deserves the gong for his fund raising alone and he was a good servant of cricket.
I like the story that his taking a wrong turning off a Taunton hospital corridor which took him to the Childrens Leukemia ward, set him off on his fund raising walks which did so much for Leukemia research.
Top Guy!

... Lord Geoffrey of Barnsley .... whod've thought it !!
Sadly Boycs, great batsman that he was, blotted his copybook a mite when the Frenchies and his ex. hauled him over the coals a few years back.
Black 'n' blue eyes on a blonde splashed across the tabloids did for him I'm afraid.
Anyway, the only charity GB appears to support is ... errr... GB hisself!
So .... no ... is the answer.

I thought misogyny was obligatory for elevation to the English aristocracy.

I reckon Boycott has personality traits that would fit very comfortably into the house of Lords.
I've always thought Botham claiming to deliberately run out his captain is a significant blot on his magnificent record.
Rags forgave Boycs for running him out at Trent Bridge that time.

Re. Rags's forgiveness - We only have Boycs word for it ...
Re. Beefy - I think the nation forgave him for not having been forced to switch channels to The Woodentops in order to be entertained.

Don't let facts cloud your judgement Rob!
Boycs was his own worst nightmare at times ... Beefy just happened to be the one who woke him up.

Borecott had scored 21 runs in 120 balls when England were pushing for a declaration, before Both deliberatley ran him out. http://content-www.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63204.html
He then had a major psookotic episode in the dressing room and said to Both "I don't care any more. You and Willis are in charge now." What a great skipper.....

Ah .... happy days.
Beefy at his glorious best.
Now then the rest of you 10 clots in the English team .... the next time anyone bats with the Dinga ... take heed on how it's done by calling Sir Ian on - 077............(number witheld for security reasons).

It seems a bit strange to state an apparent fact and then post the link which demonstrates it to be untrue. Boycott scored 26 runs in 80 balls (a scoring rate of 32.5 - nearly twice the scoring rate you suggest).
There were 26 minutes play left on that day (the fourth of the match) and England were 257 runs ahead. Everyone had found batting difficult on that wicket (including Botham who had scored at a rate of less than 36 in the first innings) and there was never a likelihood of England declaring that night.
Old and then Roope batted after Botham ran out Boycott. They scored 10 runs in 13 balls between them. Boycott, continuing at his scoring rate, would have scored 4 or 5. So the effect of running out his skipper was to give England an extra 5 runs. In fact, England must have lost one over's batting that night as a result of losing those wickets so the effect was probably that they scored no extra runs at all.
Deliberately running a teammate out is not acceptable, even more so when there is no gain to be had from doing so. Moreover, the captain is in charge of tactics and it is not up to junior players to decide they know better.
Also, Boycott's comment to Willis and Botham could easily have been a reference to the fact that it was now over to them to win the match - which they did.

Well deserved. Good on him. A genuine sporting legend and there peoples champion. Yes he is also flawed, as all greats will be one way or another.
At his peak the most natural and destructive all round cricketer ever.

I don't think Both would have done it to Brears, or Goose or Lubo or Gatt or Goochie.
Only to Boyks.
