Most ridiculous names Empty Most ridiculous names

Post by skully Thu 07 Feb 2013, 02:11

This came to mind when I saw the names of last year's most hated US athletes list. One guy's first name was Plaxico and another's Ndamukong.

On the wireless this morning, the music station I listen to had a phone-in for the stoopidest names people had heard. I think the winners were a lass with the name "Pervin", another wee tot whose parents had boganly named her "Kviiilyn*", and a third who had the name "Ka-a" (Kadasha - "the dash is not silent" FFS). I think the last one got a run in some thread last year.

* Would you believe this is pronounced Kaitlyn, with the "viii" providing the "8" in Roman Numerals FFS

I once heard of a girl whose name was Penelope which, while crap, isn't unusual until you realise that it was pronounced Penny Lope.

I hate so much parents who give their kids names that they have to correct you on all the time. When we moved into our new home in the 80s we became good friends with the family across the road. They had two spunky teenage daughters (fap-fap-fap) named Tanya and Natasha. They corrected us every time with "Tarnya and Natarsha". Rolling Eyes

I think you must've mentioned it last year or so, cos I knew I'd read it on Bails before.

I have to go the other way sometimes with my No 1. People insist on saying his name with a French accent. Weird, unless you are actually French in which case it is quite cute.

So they finish X's name with a "i-airrrrrrrrrrr" as in Zavi-airrrrrrrr, instead of Zayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyvia?

Here's a wee bit of gold

"Lucifer, V8, Christ and Messiah are among the baby names rejected by New Zealand's department of internal affairs. Disappointed parents wishing to christen their offspring with numbers (89), letters (J, I, T) and punctuation marks (*) were also given short shrift.

Fish and Chips (twins), Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit also got the kybosh, though the New Zealand judges did allow Number 16 Bus Shelter and Violence. But the top of the NZ banned list must surely be Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii.

In Sweden, there is a law preventing parents from naming their children Metallica and Elvis. But in a parental fightback, a couple attempted to name their child Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116. Yes, it's spelled correctly. We've double-checked! And apparently, it's pronounced "Albin", though we're not sure how.
...
On the other side of the world, the Malaysian government banned the name Chow Tow. It sounds harmless enough, until you realise the translation is Smelly Head!

In Germany, the names Stompie, Woodstock and Grammophon have been turned down, whereas the similarly strange Speedy, Lafayette and Jazz were allowed.

But surely top of the pile (excuse the pun) of banned baby names is this from Denmark: Anus. Apparently, the judges thought the baby's parents were trying to make an arse of their offpring! "

---------------------------------------------------------

FMD, there are weird bogans all over the world. Shocked

Still, "V8" has a spectacular ring to it. Very Happy

... because they're stupid.

I am aware of a poor lad christened 'Skipper' and another named 'Bimbo' ... this latter one mentioned on forum previously, and probably not inflicted on him by his parents, but by some malicious FNQ station owner. Some very interesting names have been inflicted (I use the word advisedly) quite maliciously on indigenous folk in FNQ, especially 50+ years ago.

oh, and of a young lady, surname Taylor, christened Jenna, by her stupid parents

Presumably the V8 is banned because you can't have numbers in a name but V-VIII would be fine.

What on earth is wrong with Stompie or Woodstock (Is Charlie Brown not allowed either)?

Lafayette's a perfectly fine name - it's a place in Louisiana. Jazz was a Transformer. Speedy was the first name of the fastest mouse in all of Mexico.
