Similar conditions, you mean? (It doesn't ALWAYS rain in Manchester, despite the myth.)

I think Jack was as canny as they come. He once returned 8-8-0-0 in a 40 overs match! Very Happy

I've no idea what Rikki is doing out there, esp if he's not even skippering. He's more long-in-the-tooth pussycat than young lion, at this stage.

Well, perhaps a slight exaggeration, but there is nothing to learn for or about him, nowhere for him to go, so why pick him?

Jimmy appears to have fouled up his bowler count - one of the opening bowlers is going to have to switch ends between his last two overs (.... unless he intends someone to replace the leaky Meaker).

True...poms have helped with Bleak House returning to bowl...seems he is channelling Lady Di and bowling tosh and beamers...hit Paine on the finger with a beamer...not what paine needs, given his fingers are as tough as potato crisps

Maybe.

But maybe you underestimate the Pom powers of batting collapse. I imagine McDermott in particular could do some damage.
