India v Australia, 3rd Test, Mohali, 14-18 March, 2013
Where to now for Aus? Back home? Abandon the tour?
As it is, I suspect they will stay, and this will be their team-
Cowan
Warner
Watson
Clarke(c) (Surely, finally, incredibly belatedly, he'll go to number 4)
Khawaja (Surely as well)
Wade+
Henriques
Johnson (as shit as he often is, I'm surprised he hasn't played from the start)
Pattinson
Lyon
Doherty
Watson only survives because there is no other batsman in the squad (I don't think?)

Watson is unavailable and I think they'll rotate Pattinson by making us some injury and sending him home. No use risking him on these tracks in a dead series when he might actually be a force in England. Midge in, maybe Starc too.

People might be calling this Aus team as weakest to tour India, it might wll be, but Aus has now lost last 7/9 (with 2 draws) tests it played in India and 5 of those tests included stalwarts like Gilly, Warne, Ponting, Hussey etc.
So its not that only this team is failing to win in India.

suspect this will be Oz's last tour here for some time - until the drs debacle is resolved...the cricket is being played in poor spirit by both teams

I can't see any evidence of that but while India continue to get the benefit of questionable LBW decisions they will never concede to DRS at home.

not 5. 7 of the 9 included at least ponting and hussey
this series is the first series vs aus in india not to include ponting since 1986

lol at this sook. It was Aus who benefitted a lot in the absence of DRS in the last test. Clarke won't have got to 40 if DRS was there, your lot won't have reached even 200 in its first dig. In this test, there are hardly any questionable decisions so lets not sook over this test.I can't see any evidence of that but while India continue to get the benefit of questionable LBW decisions they will never concede to DRS at home.
And to burst your this 'DRS bigger than life' bubble, its not just at home, India don't play with DRS even when they tour just like their last tour to Aus or may be even Eng IIRC.

Doesn't the home nation make the choice now?

Fair enough. I find it mildly amusing. Even with their best of teams, Aus has won just 1 series in India in what more than 3 decades now?not 5. 7 of the 9 included at least ponting and hussey

I'm not sure but I distinctly remember we didn't have DRS when we toured SA, Eng and Aus last.Doesn't the home nation make the choice now?.

Thats ok. All we have to do is wait for India to tour Australia again to put the balance right.

Only change I can see for India is Dhawan for Sehwag. Unless Dhoni doesn't want to change the winning combination...

Anyway, there's a typo in the thread title ... should be 14-16 March.
Even with the mighty Steve Smith 2.0 recruited to bolster the batting.

Should be a powerful Aus team with 3 allrounders in it.
