English County Season 2013
That time already - well, near enough as The Bears play MCC in Abu Dhabi next week.

Well, we've got a new ball partnership - Copeland and the 'lively' Azharullah. But only for a while. But, it's nice to have. Crook will be in to chuck some pies too.
But where's the batting? Or the bowling? Or the FIELDING???
I'm interested to see how Rob Keogh goes - people like him.

Re: English County Season 2013
The unconquerable Nottinghamshire Mightyz are back for a murderation. I'm hoping we'll nearly win something this season, as well as actually winning one other thing. That would be nice and doubleplus sexual. I don't really know how our team will look. Maybe a little something like this:
Hales
CowanAussieScum
Lumb
Patel
Taylor
Wessels
ReadGod
Shahzad
Adams
?
Gurney
It isn't too bad. Bet the batsmen don't score enough runs to do owt though. Mullaney might play instead of Wessels if somebody decides that stupid is the way forward. I dunno about the fitness of Ajmal and Andre as they haven't featured vs Derbyshire.
What's the MCC squad? Three Afgans, an Irish and a Biafran?

rofl....poor Augie....Cowan is such a bright bloke with decent values that you could hardly call him Australian....you will have him for the full season as he won't make the Bernie selected tour

Re: English County Season 2013
We're not finishing above fourth. Richardson will get 50 - 60 wickets if he stays fit - and that's a big ask at his age. Time for Richard Jones to show up for a whole season. I live in hope.
It's going to be a big season for Moeen and Gareth Andrew. Both are out of contract at the end of the season and I fancy that both will leave if we don't go straight back up ( which we won't).
Anyway, look out for Aneesh Kapil - good enough to bat at six, and bowls mid 80s. A bit like a certain Durham player but without the alcohol.

Is there really much difference in the standard between the 2 divs?

I'd say so as we failed to survive in Div 1 with fundamentally the same squad that got us there in the first place.

Re: English County Season 2013
the Pears were a little unlucky tho and would be competitive on their better days
depending on demographic change in the next couple of decades...Oz may consider a 2 div system...the larger States could field 2 or 3 teams

We'll see how he changes to typical Aussie scum when he joins an unconquerable winning juggernaut.

Re: English County Season 2013
Anyway, the county season is underway in the Middle East, as snow remains on the ground across most of England... centuries for Chopra and Porterfield against an MCC team that looks like a who's who of might-have-beens.

They should stop being so unf*ckable then.
Re: English County Season 2013
Bears have started well against the MCC in Dubai. Chopra has been in a pretty rich vein of form for a couple of years now; Porterfield has not. Westwood, our erstwhile skipper, has started the season as he will no doubt continue it. Would be good to sea Jim Troughton start the season in form.

Bears 561/6
MCC 73/7
MCC's opening bowlers being Trego and Kirby tells its own story.

I feel sorry for them. The morning of the game the players would have been scraping the frost off their cars, there is still snow on the ground ffs - you shouldn't be having to play cricket in this. A couple of weeks ago Jonny Bairstow was playing Test cricket for England. Now its three degrees and the ball will be feeling like a cannonball, with a crowd of 3 hardy souls sheltering under their thermal blankets.
Re: English County Season 2013
Are those likes groundsmen or homeless? Why else would anyone watch when it's 1 C.
192/0, 300+ run lead. Didn't really matter, after all.
