RIP Mynah

Acting upon furtherinvigoration I looked deeper into Mynah's Facebook page and am sad to report that she passed away in April.

A great and humorous member who will be sadly missed.

A woman with a wonderful sense of humour who gave us many of the most interesting posts you could ever hope to read.

Condolences to her family & friends.

No way. Can anyone tell us much more about her? Age? Location. I remember her from the old days.

Not sure on her age, but was from Pretoria, South Africa and a journalist by trade.

Oh no!!!! A lovely lady that I exchanged numerous emails and chuckles with. Dear me, that is dreadful news. RIP dear lady.

Oh no. Such news cuts through this forum like a knife.

Very witty, quirky, full of life despite all sorts of setbacks, and very likeable.

The last I saw, she was hopeful of pulling out of it, despite the previous results.

I read nothing further, and as I said, didn't know what to make of the news.

Thanks for letting us all know, taipan. Though I am not sure what else to say except may she rest in peace, and I hope her family are strong in spirit.

Just been checking out her back-catalogue - wish I'd taken more notice before.

Her passion for the game was obvious, and her style was elegant, articulate and humorous. The whole world of journalism will miss her.

What the hell?? Terrible news! I must admit, I hadn't realised she had health problems, but I assume she posted about it here? Can someone fill me in?

I'm not sure of her health problems, either - wouldn't mind knowing as well.

She was always the most genial of forummers, never a cross word - and handled herself with the utmost of dignity.

I was a friend of Mynah's on facebook and I knew she had been fighting cancer, the last posts she made sounded like there may be some hope. Possibly she was, as always, being positive.

R.I.P. Mynah. Very sad. I too enjoyed reading her posts though I didn't know her as well as people who were part of the community which was the precursor to this forum.

Rest easy Mynah. A great member, her posts suggested to me that she was a learned, witty, kind and a lot of fun. My condolences to her family.

Quite correct. IIIRC she would have joined C4 in late 2002, just before me.

Genuinely saddened. She had a brilliant curiosity for many and varied things. Never a bad word when some of us were acting more shamefully. Not even a mild reprimand. By all accounts a lovely lady and I hope she had a great life. RIP Mynah.

If anyone has links to any of her articles or tribute articles by journalist colleagues. It would be nice for them to be read by as many as possible.

And it might be nice to post some of Mynahs best and funniest posts on this thread a la Dello in memoriam if anyone knows of any and can find them with the terrible search.

same here - but sometime only in the last month or two, after a period of inactivity, that account has been deleted or at least the connection to mine has disappeared

very sad news - I enjoyed her stories of travel and human frailties and embarrassments played down
