Great Names XI
This talk of Learie Constantine has made me think of my favourite West Indian XI purely in terms of having the best names. Lets face it Learie Constantine is a fantastic name. And the Windies have produced quite a few magnificently named cricketers. Here's my All-Time XI:
Gordon Greenidge
Richie Richardson
Seymour Nurse
Wilton St Hill
Bam Bam Weekes
Dwayne Bravo*
Clairmonte Depeiaza+
Learie Constantine
Rangy Nanan
Curtly Ambrose
Courtney Walsh
Honorable mentions to 'Snuffy' Browne, Cyl St Hill (who would have been a shoo-in but he only played FC cricket), Everton Weekes, Esmond Kentish, Prof Edwards, Ivor Mendonca, Faoud Bacchus, Collis King, Vanburn Holder, Eldine Baptiste, Tino Best, Corey Collymore, Ryan Ramdass and Nixon McLean (and his brother Kissenger)
West Indies also do a good line in alliteration, Malcolm Marshall, Colin Croft, Manny Martindale and Patrick Patterson would be a pretty formidable bowling attack. Whilst Sew Shivnarine, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Hemnarine Chattergoon, Tagenerine Chanderpaul could make a confusing middle order.

Re: Great Names XI
How did you miss out the fantastic flow of some of their strings of middle names, as well!
Richie Richardson and Gordon Greenidge aren't THAT flamboyant, are they?
Alliterative as you say, granted.
England - or rather, Britain - has produced a few champions too, though:
Arthur Arthur
Gregor MacGregor
Johnny Bastard
Eddie Bastard
AshleyBas .... no sorry, was getting carried away there.
James Lilywhite
Leland Hone
Sandford Schultz
Ted Peate (which sounds like Deadbeat)
Rev. Dick Pilling
Charles AND George Studd (worrrrrr!)
Ivo Bligh
Mr (George) Bean
Edward Tylecote
Stanley Christopherson
Hylton Philipson
Dick Pougher (no idea how you pronounce that)
Hugh Bromley-Davenport
George Simpson-Hayward
Bernie Bosanquet
H. D. G. Leveson Gower
Septimus Kinneir
... I mean, the list just goes on and on.

Anyway, meant to note that the 46-letter, three-hyphen player and commentator I referenced above seemingly goes by “Ebs” to her friends and colleagues. Top marks for abbreviation...
