Re: South African fast bowler to rescue England
I thought this was going to be about Stuart Meaker.
Shame the kid's not a spinner. We could use one of those.
Then again, SA probably would've locked him down if he was a spinner.
Interesting story, curious to see where it goes (probably nowhere), no idea how he's been able to play over here for three years without a British passport.

Just what England need. Another Brezzy but with less speed to be corted around the pawk.

We have had a couple of people pitch on the SA claiming that they played with him in Ireland and that he is a deluded fool.

The SA thread. I have been tipped off who the second Irish poster is, but have been asks not to mention his name.

Let's see... "Lanky", Irish but currently in Australia, has played at the top level but stats are not world-class... who could that describe?

Yours may have been a rhetorical question, but me, I didn't know the answer and had the time to try find it.
Three google searches were enough.

I've noticed that appalling journo that Taipan refers to continually (for whatever reason) seems to distort the virtues of non-white players. She has criticised de Kock wherever possible and is advocating Thami ahead of him if they decide to replace Kallis with an 'all-rounder' style keeper and allow AB to focus more on his batting.

Well if I want to comment on SA cricket I will sometimes have to refer to the official cricinfo correspondent for SA. How she got the gig no one knows as she was unknown beforehand. But for once you are right, she plays the race card continually.

How she got the gig no one knows
By being Telford Vice's missus, maybe?

If by 'really', you were asking about her being Vice's missus (as opposed to how she allegedly got her job), then really:
I live with my husband, who is also a sports writer, Telford Vice. And and our cat, Doosra.

The point is that the story was filed on the same day as his wife's and is virtually identical.

As furri posted, was there that I saw it.
Although the post wasn't really meant as a serious insinuation about her skills or otherwise.
Cricinfo's non India, Australia and England sections are generally crap.

Interesting point (and this may be going off topic). I thought the same and took a quick re-look at the two stories.
It seems to me that the quotes are identical- as they should be (if that is what the source said) , and Vice has attributed these to some other publication. From a journo's perspective I think that's ok, although it will raise a few editorial eyebrows for sloppiness.
I think the stories themselves are not identical in that the language seems different (reiterating here that I just glanced at the two stories). They would be in serious trouble if the language matched fully or even in parts.
Husband and wife writing on the same subject, same quotes, same opinions (that may not be too well researched) is as I said eyebrow raising and may result in a few WTFs in some newsrooms, but is neither, IMO, a breach of ethics nor an offence that deserves official sanction.

Shows hoe dangerous this tipe of biased journalism can be when politicians get involved without knowing the facts.
