Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara partnership stats
Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara are each 36 years old. They are Sri Lanka's two highest ranked batsmen. They could well go on to play for another couple of years.
Might be that they will end up being the pair with the greatest number of runs as a partnership. Currently the top four reads:
Dravid Tendulkar 6920 (mostly third, fourth)
Greenidge,Haynes 6482 (openers)
Hayden Langer 6081 (openers)
Sangakkara Jayawardene 5960 (mostly third, fourth)
There's no currently active pair that have over 4000 runs together other than Mahela and Kumar.

And they're pretty to watch when they are going, too.

Other active pairs:
Amla/Smith 3652
Cook/Trott (maybe) 2557
De Villiers/Smith 2213
Petersen/Smith 2077
So the only other indisputably active ones above 2000 involve Graeme Smith. There's not many experienced, stable batting line-ups out there now, with so many of the great and good having recently retired or been dropped. A bit like bowling a decade or so ago.
