The Horse Racing Thread
Wow. What a race.
He held Toronado up just waiting for the last crack at Dawn Approach & got him in the last few bounds.
Great stuff.

One furlong to go... 4 lengths down on Dawn Approach ... he presses the button and wins by a neck.
Cracking race, still can't believe it!
Glad I took the 4's ...

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
I guess the racing highlight today is the Gp2 Goodwood Cup.
How good will that be? Two miles looks ideal for Mount Athos although he will be opposed by some good stayers such as Brown Panther, Caucus, Colour Vision, etc.
We also see the running of the Gp3 Lillie Langtry Stakes for fillies & mares over 14 furlongs. Last year Wild Coco won this impressively first up & this year, she once again makes her season's reappearance in this event. The three year olds, Jathabah & Elik might be the hardest for her to beat although Wild Coco does appear to be the class runner.

Brown Panther wins the Goodwood Cup, his most important victory to date.

Wild Coco just too classy in the Lillie Langtry Stakes. She had it won a long way from home.

Outstanding sprinting mare, Moonlight Cloud, has just won her third successive Gp1 Prix Maurice de Gheest over 1300m at Deauville. Lethal Force was second & Gordon Lord Byron third.

Re: The Horse Racing Thread
I guess the racing highlight today is the Gp2 PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield.
It sees the seasonal reappearance of Melbourne Cup favourite, Puissance de Lune. He is favourite for the event but meets some smart sprinters such as Second Effort, Launay, Under The Eiffel, etc. It will be an interesting race. Who do you think will win?
The form analyst at www.widewallyfoldableshoesandhorseracingtips.com has found a value bet in Race 8 Rosehill. It is number 8 - Marden. Last week Marden was ridden by a 3kg claiming apprentice but unfortunately for all concerned, the little bloke had no idea how to ride a horse & managed to make a complete mess of the start. Marden was only beaten by 2 lengths & lost much more than that at the start. Today Hughie Bowman has taken the ride so Marden should be hard to beat. Currently around $9 on fixed odds.

That is some horse. Looked like Glennoboss was not trying and it did not get out until the furlong but it still cruised home.WideWally wrote:I guess the racing highlight today is the Gp2 PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield.

I guess the racing highlight today is the Gp1 Juddmonte International at York.
It should be a fascinating race. Al Kazeem has won all of his four starts this year including three Group Ones & meets outstanding three year old Toronado won scored a great win last start in the Gp1 Sussex Stakes but is attempting a longer trip today. Also in the field are Trading Leather & Declaration Of War who have both won Group Ones this season as well as Hillstar, a Group two winner. Who do you think will win?

Toronado for me.
Begging to be upped in distance - and getting 8 lbs from Al Kazeem.
Danger : Trading Leather.

The Fugue is back to her best. She has just won the Gp1 Yorkshire Oaks very easily. With two furlongs to go, the rest of the field was being hard ridden & Buick was just sitting still on The Fugue. She cruised up to Venus de Milo & then went whooshka. Andrew Lloyd-Webber will be pleased.

Atlantic Jewel is back with bang. First up sinceApril 2012, she has absolutely cruised home. She is now unbeaten in eight starts.
More importantly, she won the last leg of the Melbourne quaddy & Ibicenco won the third leg at about 50/1.
