I asked after the first game. I will ask again after the second game.

vilkrang wrote:The chance Australia missed just before the 5th goal was absolutely bizarre. What was he doing crossing the ball? It's like he was playing a computer game and hit the "Cross" button instead of shoot. Same with the other bloke forgetting to press the header button.
You just described me playing any computer game ever.
It's a particular bugger in first person shooters when you try to duck but instead throw a grenade, or quickly reload but instead start scrolling through your inventory.

Matt Ryan, 22, Club Brugge, Belgian Pro League Goalkeeper of the Year 2013-14.
By all accounts he's highly rated with some good clubs sniffing around him.
Or you could play Schwarzer until he's 60. Sometimes you've just got to move on.
Re: Football World Cup 2014
Didn't see the game but surprised to hear that Aus actually lead Nedderlands 2-1. Looking forward to seeing Cahill's goal. Sounded decent.

How funny would it be if Aus did beat Spain??!! Have the World Cup holders ever lost all 3 opening pool games in the following WC??vilkrang wrote:Shame, Aussies deserved a point. Could still go through though if Spain beat Chile, Australia beat Spain and Holland beat Chile.
Beating Spain might be a bit tricky though...
Still, there's something cathartic about seeing the Spanish primadonnas exit after the first week of this WC.

I've just seen the highlights of the Aus v Clogs match. Yes, that WAS a stunning volley by Timmy, and I have to agree with Mr K. That WAS ordinary keeping to conceded the 3rd Dutch goal. Still, it looked ordinary defending at the back to allow the 2nd and 3rd Cloggie goals.

Just checked. To answer my own question, holders Italy were eliminated after their opening two games in the 1950 WC.

He was clearly tripped.

France didn't score in 2002, although they managed a 0-0 draw... and Italy last time out finished bottom of a group containing New Zealand, and I'm not talking about rugby...skully wrote:skully wrote: Have the World Cup holders ever lost all 3 opening pool games in the following WC??

I'll certainly be cheering for Aus in their last game. Played well in both their matches and should have got something out of at least one of them. Hoping it won't be the same story for England.

I don't know much about the Belgian pro league.
But three possibly four of the six goals he conceded were bog ordinary efforts.

That Cahill goal gets better every viewing. Van Bastenesque. Van Basten had a more difficult angle, but Cahill's was with his weaker foot!

Top goal, but still behind RVP.

Definitely behind Van Persie.
Aussie media going wild saying goal of the tournament.

Re: Football World Cup 2014
Van Persie's is probably the best diving header I've seen.
But he is a dirty c*nt, so I'll go with Cahill.

Too bad we will be without Cahill in the final game. We don't have anyone else who can convert opportunities like he does.

Cameroon getting trounced.
No Commonwealth or Iberian nation has won a game so far.

Apparenetly* Tim Cahill has more WC goals than Messi, Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo combined.
