Yeah and tbh, the way they defended, Germany didn't deserve one.Brass Monkey wrote:tricycle wrote:Ozil costing Neuer a clean sheet....

Re: Football World Cup 2014
Can you actually wish someone good luck after the event? (I mean, except to rub someone's nose in it with the impregnable safety of hindsight, that is! )Brass Monkey wrote:PeterCS wrote:Unless they get a less impressionable ref, the Germans may also struggle to beat the homers. I expect it to be a close call, at least.
(Klose, but no cigar?)
Good luck with that.
To be fair, I don't think anyone expected the ship to sink quite that fast.
And also to be fair, I wouldn't have believed Tiago Silva was quite such a mainmast AND rudder - even though he was central defender and captain, he seems also to have been the calming intelligence that lent the team some shape - that, once you take him out, the whole bloody ship and crew go missing.
(I think my "prediction" was also made prior to Neymar being ruled out - with the result that the Brazilian midfield and attack was left quite so bereft, and playmaking and any forward-going strategy was dependent on such immortals as the mighty Fred.)

Will Taips say all that matters is that Brazil played well in the five games leading up to the semi.

Netherlands is normally my second team but the Argies would have to be in the 'anyone but' column.

A sick Van Persie is in doubt for the semi but then the 'ill' Germans got over the French so it may not be a bad omen.

Nah' they started poorly and got worse. Lucky to get to the semi, but I guess Trev is still in Brazil.

Saw an article today that said Messi's parents at one time were considering emigrating to Australia. Just as well they did'nt or young Messi would be just another A League hack.

His power has grown to the extent that merely being in the country destroys them.

The natives are restless.
And the word is that it could be mayhem if their southern rivals the Argies win.
