Re: Good news thread
I managed to bullshit my way through my annual PDA today. Its getting harder though, with all the dickhead demands they make on staff these days to justify our existance.
Re: Good news thread
I'm at the top of my pay grade (not good news for me) so my annual performance assessment is a chore to avoid yawning my way through, what with me not giving a flying what my boss says or demands.
Anywho, I'm with Dan, tis the weekend. Huzzah!!!

Wrong thread. This is merely the good news thread.
Re: Good news thread
What a nice surprise to come back and see so many replies, with good things happening to others - happy birthday/congratulations, I'm pleased for you or thank you as appropriate to all responders.

Since he's the first in my immediate family to even attend university, let alone graduate - I can't express just how proud I am as a parent.
Congrats but wouldn't he get more money quicker in the private sector or is boffinhood a decent earner nowadays?
Bradders, he's being sponsored by the company he was with on work experience. They did offer him a job, which he did consider for a while, but he does like academia & research. The clincher for him was getting the first rather than a 2:1 degree. He will be closely involved with them, and of course they will benefit from his research. It's in the field of nanotechnology, so it's "cutting edge" stuff with microchips and such like.

Had an ace day (meaning I survived) with my mum in Queenscliffe (was Victoria's getaway in the 19th C for richies)
my mum has been going to this joint for 80+ years...as a little kid she would go down on a paddlewheel steamer from melb to Q...then in her early 20s she went there for d weekends with my dad...miraculously we survived the day!
