Apparently a couple of sixes off Dale Steyn in a JAMODI is all you need to get a Test squad berth these days:

ODI squad: Michael Clarke (capt), Sean Abbott, George Bailey, James Faulkner, Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Shane Watson.
T20 squad: Aaron Finch (capt), Sean Abbott, Cameron Boyce, Pat Cummins, James Faulkner, Brad Haddin, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Kane Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Shane Watson.

Only three pace bowlers in the test squad. Are they expecting spinner's tracks?

Clearly Puddle and Twatto (better known at the hammy twins) are considered the 4th and 5th.

God, that is a bog ordinary side on paper. We can only pray that Midge's stellar Test form continues, Warner continues to bluff his way through, and Haddit keeps propping up the top 6.

it is dire.....while no show has a better 1st class average than many courtesy of good shield form late last season, he is hit or miss.

More's the shame Smitty can't command a place on his leg spin alone. How valuable a player would he be if he was half the leggie TGM was?

Apparently* he's been working very hard on his leggies, at Pup, Boof and Bacchus' request.

The outrage may be contagious. The CA link to their squad announcement keeps shutting down explorer. If they had to take a second spinner, who else?. O'Keefe's numbers look alright which is all you can go on.

If Pup is still injured I assume Haddit will be the captain.

So will Twatto start producing performances now that suddenly there is someone (Marsh) challenging him for a spot in the test team?

Of course not, Trev. He's proved time and time again that he's a soft cat that strings failures together before pulling out a half decent knock to stave off a dropping.

Well exactly. So now that there is a legitimate replacement in the wings (although I don't think Marsh is ready), Twatto might stop resting on his laurels and produce a performance or two.
Or he'll get injured and sook off back to Australia.

I don't think the Twat has ever rested on his laurels. He's just got a concentration problem. Invariably seems to make a trouble-free 20 or 30 then throws it away with a loose hang of the bat.
Will end his career with Worst-Ever-Alan-Davidson-impersonator trophy.
