Oz JAMODI and A squads for pom tour announced today
rumours coming out of the spiv press that Cummins is to be selected...unclear which team...positive news if the lad is fit again...but in concerning news it appears the career (such as it was) of serial tv ad pest Stevie Nix is to get a shot in the tv talent vein with selection...tell me it aint so

So Usman Khawaja and Phil Hughes don't even make the Aus A side. That's a bit flabbergasting, really. Especially in regards to Khawaja. Can Aus really afford to leave two young batsmen averaging mid 40s in first class cricket out of their A side? There's hardly a mountain of young batting talent in Australia at the moment.

Re: Oz JAMODI and A squads for pom tour announced today
Marsh, Khawaja, and Hughes will all be playing County Cricket. That's as good an audition for an Ashes tour as any, I guess.
Still, go back six months and those three were considered the most promising young batsmen in Australia, so to now not be considered good enough to even play for Australia A is a bit of a slap in the face, and makes the Aus selectors look unsure as to who their best players are. On the other hand, Cowan has looked a bit out of his depth at test level, Klinger is almost 32 and has never looked more than first class standard, and Cooper has played one big first class innings in four years.
What, for example, are they going to learn about Cowan (who is apparently the first choice test opener) by sending him on a A tour at this stage? Surely if Khawaja fights back and has a barn-storming A tour, they would learn a stack more about him? Even Warner would have been a better A team pick than Cowan, but apparently his (warner's) spot is water-tight already, based on a couple of electric test innings (in amongst a stackful of failures) and a few quickfire domestic T20 hundreds. He's re-inventing the ways to secure a test spot.

Unlike Cowen, Khawaja has'nt been able to score any runs in Shield cricket either.
Good to see Paine get another chance. Shirley this must be the final nail in Haddits coffin.

They'll give Midge a game. He'll get 1/60 off eight overs & we'll never see him again.....hopefully.
