The only thing that will stop him equalling the record of 4 consecutive tons v the same side (currently 4 players hold that record) will be a 550+ total (which seems inevitable) and Aus falling in a heap in their 1st innings (which also may be inevitable).

Another batsman producing the form of his career well beyond the age of 35... how many written off by selectors at the first run of poor form in their 30s could still have that in them?

I'm not sure how many, but almost certainly they're all English. Off the top of my head I can think of Gower, Robin Smith, and KP as players who were discarded by England when they still had runs left in them. And none of them were dropped for cricketing reasons. Rather, they didn't see eye to eye with the establishment that is English cricket.

His tons per test match is amongst the best of the modern era.
He really has few flaws in his record.
Until a week ago he hadn't scored a ton against Australia.
Until a week ago he hadn't played the Aussies for ten years and his record prior to that in a handful of games vs McGrath and Warne was solid.
An average of 30 in 6 matches. Meh. Give me VVS any day.
He's been grouse in this series though.
Now averages over 57 against Aus.

Younis said he still wasn't among the greats of Pakistan cricket. "I am not great...like Javed, Inzamam, Yousuf or Hanif Mohammad. I can't compare myself with them," Younis said after the day's play.
"The era I am playing in is easy for me compared to theirs. I want to be remembered as a team-man who loves to serve and his performance makes his country proud and win."

Yeah, think that only makes him better than a glory hunter. Albeit, this may just be lip service.

Younis Khan to retire after the West Indies tour along with Misbah.

I remember many years ago I was on a forum where someone asked everyone to nominate a future star of the game. I nominated Younis Khan but for a few years it looked as though he would be an underperformer but then the penny dropped & he has had a fine career.

I remember someone nominated Yuvraj Singh ... 'the new Sobers'.
It'd be an interesting exercise now.
