What a sook Younis Khan is!!!
Pak players got a raw deal from IPL: Younis
Karachi, Feb 7 (PTI) Pakistan's cricketers got a raw deal from the Indian Premier League and were paid less than what they deserved, complained Younis Khan after watching English players fetch record bids in the IPL second season auction despite their limited availability. Pakistan players will not be a part of IPL season II after the government barred them from travelling to India on 'security grounds'.
The Pakistan skipper said after watching Englishmen Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff fetch a record-breaking USD 1.55 million each in yesterday's auction, he wondered whether his country's cricketers were paid less last season.
Flintoff and Pietersen would be able to play just three weeks of the six-week tournament that is scheduled in April.
"Unlike other countries particularly Pakistan where players rushed to get into the IPL, the English cricket board and their players avoided the first season. As a result, their demand has increased for the second season," he said.
"In contrast Pakistani players have got themselves a raw deal from the IPL. Look at Sohail Tanvir he was brought for just around USD 100,000 and he was the best bowler in the first season. Yet he has to manage with the same amount for the rest of his contract with Rajasthan Royals.
"In comparison to Pakistani players even local Indians fetched bigger prices. Which was surprising. Someone like Misbah-ul Haq, who was the best Twenty20 batsman last season, hardly got a reasonable price," Younis pointed out.

I thought that Younis was a genuinely nice person. But his sook about Pak playing commanding lower IPL prices is awesome considering none of them did anything of note apart from Tanvir who was brilliant in season 1.
As a matter of fact both KP and Flintoff are way ahead of most Pak players.

Looks like its the turn of Pak captain to sook about IPL when almost each one of them declared that they won't be missing IPL and that country is above everything else.
BTW why did this look suprising to Younis?
"In comparison to Pakistani players even local Indians fetched bigger prices. Which was surprising.
I thought IPL was an Indian tournament played in India.

Re: What a sook Younis Khan is!!!
The amazing amounts of money being paid by the IPL, the disparity between the amounts, and the peculiar relationship between the amounts and apparent talent, is no doubt a source of hurt and bitterness for many players, not just in Pakistan.
But complaining about it isn't going to help and will just make you look soft. These were _auctions_. It's the franchises' money: they can bid whatever they like.

Yep, he indeed is.Younis is spot on.
First declaring that Pak won't miss IPL and then sooking about other players getting more money from IPL is indeed correct.
BTW, Younis (or other Pak players) could've declared their base prices at say, US$ 1m, like KP and Flintoff did this season. Nobody stopped them from doing that.

agree with that...
Players will have to get use to the "lottery" pricing.

Sensitive? Me?
Why would I be?
Its Pak players' contradictory stances on IPL which look sensitive to me. If not then how would you explain their comments on not missing IPL and now this massive sook by Younis about IPL fees and all.
Come on, no Indian player sooked (atleast till now) about KP and Flintoff becoming the best paid cricketers and that too in India. Did anyone?
Then how come Younis Khan is surprised at low prices commanded by Pak players in IPL? And that when they're not playing this year's edition. Why doesn't he concentrate on task in hand, thats beating SL in tests?

There are also decent players from other countries who are clearly underpriced.

Isn't this true for Aus players like Marsh and Watson as well?Look at Sohail Tanvir he was brought for just around USD 100,000 and he was the best bowler in the first season. Yet he has to manage with the same amount for the rest of his contract with Rajasthan Royals.
They were bought very cheap by their owners just like Tanvir and went on to do very well, in fact if I'm not mistaken, Watson was MoS in IPL season 1 while Marsh was the highest run getter. They've not sooked (nor did Ponting) one bit over their low price.

thats true but in Pakistan's case i felt that all of the players were under priced...
could have been due to the TV contracts i.e fox sports in AUS or some channel in SA may have been willing to pay a lot more than a Pakistani channel
not that i would have closely followed IPL even if all of the PAK players had been paid a million bucks and selected in each and every game.

Re: What a sook Younis Khan is!!!
Paksters were generally crap except for Tanvir.
They got what they deserved.

Re: What a sook Younis Khan is!!!
Shoaib MoYo and Afridi would be the only Pakistani players worth Promotional $$$ to an IPL franchise ...the others were just good ordinary players when the IPL auction was on ...Misbah had done bugger all except for the T20 World Cup thingy
Shoaib only provided HYPE to his team
MoYo was flipflopping between IPL and ICL
No Idea what Afridi did
Tanvir did really well but was hardly known before the tournament

T20 is not a bowlers game ...unless you have extreme pace ...or are a legend of the game ...or are a big hitting batting all rounder ...you are not going to be paid a fortune to bowl 24 balls in an IPL game
