Re: Sachin castigates ChappellG
To be fair, Trev does know what goes through the mind of a racist better than most.

Re: Sachin castigates ChappellG
Nobody thought the words were OK. Not even Lehmann, that's the point.
Or do you continue to doubt the sincerity of his acknowledgment of the subconscious racism that emerged when he said those words, and his ownership of the need to make changes in himself?
Trevor the Symonds-Harbhajan issue is not that Symonds and Hayden are angels and Harbhajan and Tendulkar are bad, or vice versa ... in my world Symonds is a brash drunk with many problems, and Hayden is an obnoxious twat; but that does not excuse that lying grub Harbhajan for racially vilifying Symonds AGAIN, or Tendulkar for standing by when Harby tried weaselling his way out of it, only finding (after three attempts) a story he would stick with.

Re: Sachin castigates ChappellG
Was it the first time Lehmann had said those kind of words in the Aussie dressing room? Or the first time people who are deeply offended by those words heard them? I wonder what the reaction of his teammates were? Were they shocked? Did they rebuke him? Or were they silent? Was it standard fare for those kind of "heat of the moment" outbursts to occur? Like I said, he may have had a subconscious racist attitude, but he also subconsciously felt he could utter those words in the environment that he was in without rebuke. It was worrying. Well done him if he's REALLY managed to change his outlook.
And again, biased opinion WITHOUT FACTS is being used to talk about monkeygate. "Harbhajan DID racially vilify Symonds....he DEFINITELY lied......because there was an incident before in India, and Symonds was clearly angry."
Again, it's irrational. It was a group of qunts acting to the script. But Australia's prosecution would no way have stood up in a court of law. Indeed the Kiwi judge brought in to conduct the hearing thoroughly and quickly agreed. It was one team's word against another's.

Re: Sachin castigates ChappellG
Your continuing denial that the racist outburst occurred is irrational. Did you watch it live?
Harbhajan is scum, Tendulkar was complicit in the cover-up, the BCCI response told its own story.
Individual Indian players, like the individual members of political parties whose policy position is untenable, are undoubtedly gentlemen ... but the orchestrated response of India's cricket controlling body was and remains a disgrace that I will never forget or forgive.
Harbhajan called Symonds a monkey.
An initial response to the complaint was to say that it was a sort of compliment.
That didn't wash at all, and the public knew he'd done it before, and had been instructed on the sensitivity of the term, and had agreed not to say it again ... so then he tried to deny saying anything.
When that didn't wash, he said he was saying terri ma'aki, and had just been misheard ...
Shifting sands = lying qunt.
You only choose to believe him because it suits your agenda of the Australians ALWAYS being in the wrong.

Re: Sachin castigates ChappellG
I reckon this bit is the most telling of AB's comments...
"When the Indians started to flex their muscles and threatened to go home, our players were very aggrieved. They felt that if the situation had been reversed and any of them had called someone a monkey, they’d have been hammered. They also felt that the earlier agreement from the Indian tour had been broken.".
-----------------------------------
Lehamnn WAS hammered by Aus during Blackquntgate, yet here the Bannies were, threatening to take their bat and ball home if they didn't get their way (which extended to not only Bhajji getting a much reduced sentence, but also a number of Aussie witnesses to Monkeygate being essentially branded liars, as well as Steve Bucknor's career being ruined). It WAS as weak as piss, and I remain shocked and highly disappointed with the way India handled the post-THAT TEST situation. It smacked of "we rule the cricket world and we'll show you" and they got away with it.
