Re: World Cup 2015
Aust finish with 304/8 which i would rate as barely a pass against UAE. Notably Marsh, Maxwell & Haddin all failed.
Re: World Cup 2015
England struggling against the Paksters. Root is holding them together. 240/6 with two overs to go.
Re: World Cup 2015
The likes of Ali, Morgan, Bopara and consistently shite. Can hardly buy a run together. Bring back Ronald Knicks' crabbery.

I've been meaning to ask, what is the point of Bops?

We've been trying to work that one out since 2008... we need someone to focus our negativity on though, now Cook, Giles and Dernbach are out of the JAMODI picture.JGK wrote:I've been meaning to ask, what is the point of Bops?

No cricket match with more than 11 players per side is interesting or meaningful in any sense. Either play these warm-ups under official ODI conditions or not at all.

Is he seen as a bit of a Ronnie Irani - bats a bit, bowls a bit, fields a bit?

Re: World Cup 2015
Yeah I guess so... he was pigeonholed as an all-rounder early in his career, then insisted he was a top order batsman but never convinced in that role, but his apparent ability to play a variety of roles has kept him in the one-day picture. The current plan for him seems to be as a "finisher" who rarely seems to do much bowling though.
He's had personal issues and never really had the chance to establish himself doing one job, but the suspicion is he was never quite good enough anyway.

Cheers beams.
It appears the ECB NSP "has a suspicion" that he might come good at the right moment i.e. now.

Re: World Cup 2015
Looks a decent hit out for Pup. Yeah, it was only UAE, but he top-scored, ran freely between wickets, & bowled a couple of overs. Boof correctly pointed out that his fielding is the big test. We'll see how that goes.

I hope these warmup results bode well for a few upsets in the actual competition.

Re: World Cup 2015
Agree, Nath. It'd be nice to see the Bangers and the Bots (do the Windies count as minnows these days?) pull off something worthwhile when it counts (*cough* - just not against Aus).

Scotland looking comfortable against West Indies... A fair idea of the two shittest teams in the build up then with India and the West Indies.
