Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
Australia won't make any changes now. Cummins, Doherty, Bailey and Mitch Marsh have scarcely contributed to the campaign. I'd have had George there for Clarke, throughout, but there will not be changes now.
Starc has been (repeatedly) the match winner, nearly pulling off that feat even in the game we lost. Smith has been consistently excellent too. Maxwell has been the unexpected batting star, with cameos from Finch, Warner, Watson, Haddin, Faulkner, and Johnson all coming at exactly the right time. Hazlewood has been OK. Clarke has been a passenger. Looking at that team list I cannot believe it has got so far, though I think we were lucky to avoid SA and WI.
It may sound strange given that I did not expect us to make the finals, but now that we are there in the GF I think we can and perhaps should beat the Kiwis. Starc v the Kiwi openers holds the key.

I'm in shock. A balanced and plausible prediction on a match Australia are involved in. Respect.lardbucket wrote:

Based on the teams' familiarity with the wicket and ground as much as anything.
Warner, from whom more was probably expected, may hold the key to our batting on Sunday.
This WC feels much more like 86-87 to me than 1999, 2003 or 2007 (or 1975).

So - India's tour, overall. Reasonably successful? Furry, trike?
I didn't see much of yesterday's game, only the second half of each innings, but I saw remarkably little of the anticipated twattery. Behaviour of both sides seemed pretty good.

Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
aye...there has been a handful of engrossing matches and several wonderful highlights, not the least of which being recognition Ireland is the best ODI team in Europe...
Oddly enough I feel twinges of confidence...not about Warner, clotto and haddit, all of whom I expect to fail again, but about the result...Maybe it is that it may not be such a bad thing if the sheep win...
World cricket is desperate for emerging talented teams...it is great the snoozies are in the final

think playing all their prelims in nz will be the deciding factor. they just arent used to the bigger grounds. although mccullum will still be belting the ball into the stands every eover

Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
Snoozies need to bat first and get a big total on the board. They've been somewhat dodgy chasers even faced with targets they should get easily, it was only England they made short work of, even though they've always dragged themselves over the line. Along with the fact it's day-night, making batting second even tougher.
Maybe chasing 350+ would really inspire McCullum combined with perhaps a bit of Aussie bowler complacency, but that would be a scenario where everything was effectively down to the top two. I'd back Australia to defend anything around par.

Re: World Cup 2015 (IV)
It's a bit harsh on the Kiwis that they will be playing very much an away game for the final even though they are joint hosts with Aus.
If the final was in Eden Park, you'd have the Kiwis as favourites, but in Melbourne they could find it tough.
To be honest, the New Zealand public deserves a home final more than the Australian public does. For most of Australia's games, opposition support has outnumbered home supporters. I think by and large this World Cup hasn't captured the imagination of the Australian public like it has in New Zealand.

A fair view. Has been compounded by nein only showing the Australian games plus sf1. So if you are one of the majority that does not have Foxtel then you got to see FA cricket

There'll be 70,000 tickets available for the Final as the Bannie supporters try to unload theirs.

For as long as I can remember (Ie the 1996 World Cup), Channel Nine has shown all the decent World Cup games between the top teams, no matter where the World Cup was.
What were they thinking not doing the same when the tournament is actually IN Australia? F*cking Brad McNamara.....

Particularly when they now have two extra channels that they put rubbish on and someone else was already paying to come up with the telecast

You can only assume they decided that 'The Block of my Kitchen rules Australia' would get better ratings.
But yeah the point remains- They have Gem.

I don't suppose a single game will be shown live on free to air TV here when we host it in four years' time...
