2015 Trivia thread
This might be one to chuck guesses at.
In the recently completed 1st Test WI v India both sides fielded 4 players with surname beginning with B. The record is 6. One of them was Bangladesh with a plethora of Mohammads - BD v SL, Colombo (PSS), 2007.
a) Can you name the other side which fielded 6 players with surnames starting with the same letter?
b) Can you name the match that contained most players from both sides with surnames starting with the same letter (9)?

Re: 2015 Trivia thread
Aust might have come close with the Hs in the late 2000s. Some combination of hayden, Hughes, hussey, Hilfenhaus, Hodge, Hauritz, Haddin, Hogg.

Re: 2015 Trivia thread
That's the spirit, MrK. Australia's record of 5 players with a name starting with the same letter involves "H" - 4 times. The Aus record is:
FIVE:
Aus v Eng, Sydney(6), 1978-79
JD Higgs; AMJ Hilditch; RM Hogg; KJ Hughes; AG Hurst
Aus v Eng, Cardiff, 2009
BJ Haddin; NM Hauritz; BW Hilfenhaus; PJ Hughes; MEK Hussey
Aus v NZ, Wellington, 2009-10
BJ Haddin; RJ Harris; NM Hauritz; PJ Hughes; MEK Hussey
Aus v Eng, Perth, 2010-11
BJ Haddin; RJ Harris; BW Hilfenhaus; PJ Hughes; MEK Hussey
Still looking for:
a) Can you name the other side which fielded 6 players with surnames starting with the same letter?
b) Can you name the match that contained most players from both sides with surnames starting with the same letter (9)?

Re: 2015 Trivia thread
Is Pakistan involved in either answer, skulls?
If yes, can you clarify something please. Would, say Wasim & Waqar count as two Ws, or an A and a Y? And what about the likes of Inzimam - is that his surname ....... also they have no end of Mohammeds with different surnames listed under M on the Howstat player lists.
If Pak isn't the answer to the first, and they didn't play in the second it doesn't matter.
Hope my question makes sense to you.

India doesn't rate a mention.

Pakistan has managed 5 instances of 5 players with same lettered "surnames", but not with "W" or "I", but yes with "M":
Pak v Zim, Sheikhupura, 1996-97
Saeed Anwar; Salim Malik; Saqlain Mushtaq; Shadab Kabir; Shahid Nazir
Pak v NZ, Rawalpindi, 1996-97
Mohammad Akram; Mohammad Wasim; Mohammad Zahid; Moin Khan; Mushtaq Ahmed
Pak v Ind, Calcutta, 1998-99
Saeed Anwar; Salim Malik; Saqlain Mushtaq; Shahid Afridi; Shoaib Akhtar
Pak v NZ, Auckland, 2000-01
Misbah-ul-Haq; Mohammad Yousuf; Moin Khan; Mushtaq Ahmed; Mohammad Sami
Pak v BD, Chittagong, 2011-12
Abdur Rehman; Adnan Akmal; Aizaz Cheema; Asad Shafiq; Azhar Ali
Still looking for:
a) Can you name the other side (with BD v SL in 2007) which fielded 6 players with surnames starting with the same letter?
b) Can you name the match that contained most players from both sides with surnames starting with the same letter (9)?
Pak & India are not involved in either answer.

Aus v Eng, The Oval, 1938
CL Badcock; SG Barnes; BA Barnett; DG Bradman; WA Brown
JGK wrote:Is a) the Bangles with a bunch of Ms in the early 00s?
They are all 5 time instances:
BD v SAf, Dhaka, 2002-03
Mashrafe Mortaza; Mehrab Hossain; Mohammad Ashraful; Mohammad Rafique; Mohammad Salim
BD v Zim, Harare, 2003-04
Manjural Islam; Manjural Islam Rana; Mohammad Ashraful; Mohammad Rafiqu; Mushfiqur Rahman
BD v Ind, Dhaka, 2004-05
Manjural Islam Rana; Mashrafe Mortaza; Mohammad Ashraful; Mohammad Rafique; Mushfiqur Rahman
BD doesn't feature in the a) answer I'm after, other than I already said they managed 6 v SL in 2007.
Both answers do not involve Ind, Pak, BD or SL.

Re: 2015 Trivia thread
I am sure this was mentioned in the match bread but haven't had a chance to read the thread.
Broad was the fastest to five wickets ever. 19 balls from the start of the match. Next best is 25 balls by Philander.
