That is so timid from Buttler. He looks a shadow of his usual self this series. You'd think Lyon was bowling hand grenades. Pathetic.

Buttler is shit, I'm afraid. Great at 420/6, any time you need something from him, he goes missing. He's keeping well, though. Shame he's an absolute walking wicket. I'd probably get rid, TBH.
Re: England v Australia, 3rd Test, Edgbaston, 29 July - 3 August, 2015
Ad he review would have meant not out. Unbelievable. He looked so keen to walk off. If he's not up for the fight he should be dropped.

Moeen told him it was out I think.

Yeah, it would have missed. It's actually pretty f*cking stupid to think that numbers 9, 10 & 11 need the reviews.
Re: England v Australia, 3rd Test, Edgbaston, 29 July - 3 August, 2015
He practically ran off the field after a fine nick at Cardiff, and the same again here when he ball was going over the stumps. He looks scared to be honest.

Well, well - you forum boys Down Under feeling a bit more chipper today then.
All doom and gloom last night, writing your boys off, now you're all cocky again. Not sure which state you're more annoying in. ;-)
You did not allow for the fact that our batting is a joke.
This could come down to whether 2 batsmen from either team in the 2nd knock can dig in and not get out to playing like a twat. Or Warner getting a whirlwind ton perhaps.
Buttler should bat after Moeen and basically be told to play in ODI/T20 mode. He is so timid at the moment - play like Gilchrist. That's supposed to be your strong suit - so f*cking do it.

Especially as we get 2 back after 80 overs. Just f*cking review it, no one will give a shit if you lose one at 7 down with 2 remaining and 2 to come at 80 overs.Brass Monkey wrote:Yeah, it would have missed. It's actually pretty f*cking stupid to think that numbers 9, 10 & 11 need the reviews.

Not that we will get to 80 overs of course.

Buttler needs more ego. He thinks he's being all "good team man, good lad" ish, when in fact he's just being a qunt who's doing no favours for his team.

Moeen looks like he's TRYING to edge Lyon to Clarke at slip.

Lyon = Warne apparently.
Given how much he's ripping it I don't think Aus will need much of a 2nd innings lead to feel confident of winning.
Looks like we could struggle to get 100.

But Moeen has played him pretty dreadfully as well.

True, true.
But he's supposed to be one of our better players of spin. At least I think that's the case.
4th innings, more rough, lots of lefties to bowl at (take Lyth out fo the equation 'cos he'll have done his duty as the slip catch practice guy and been and gone already), righties like Buttler who don't seem to want to play a shot in anger or Bell who seems determined to prove he has huge cojones and he'll be all over us.

Got Aus at 10/3 yesterday, starting to look like a pretty decent move.

England pissing their pants again. I hope they're wearing their special ultra absorbent whites for this series.
I guess edging a lead of around 90 or 100 isn't a bad outcome generally, but a proper side would've put this game to bed from 132-2.

Definitely. It's actually highly doubtful that we'll recover to post a serious score again this series. I'm not sure whether we leave our testicles just behind the white line, or we just swallow them. Either way, we're playing bollockless cricket most of the time.
Re: England v Australia, 3rd Test, Edgbaston, 29 July - 3 August, 2015
Yeah - it has been a spectacular example of how to ruin a highly advantageous position. And as a result of this ineptitude I do think we'll probably go on to lose this match.
That said I don't see it quite as bleakly as you BM for the next 2 games (although we'll probably lose 1 of them). I think Cook is in decent nick - and but for the fluke catch I think he would have been the lynchpin to the innings that would have seen us take a commanding position. So, I reckon he will make a couple of decent scores in games 4 and 5. Root is in good touch too - so you've got to figure on him getting a few. Until his 'Allah uh Akhbar' suicide charge Bell was nailing it - and the late cut through gully showed to me a return of confidence that if he can hold onto he could score some too. Stokes may get one more good score - as for the rest, flip a coin. So I reckon we should post a 350+ score in the upcoming games - whether they'll be substantial enough to be competitive remains to be seen.

...or you can see it that we could leave our guts on the wicket any single innings we play in, just like Lord's II. The pitch doesn't matter, we'll still be crushed.

Moeen put the offisde shots away against Johnson.
You're waiting for the short ball into the body - so just deal with that. Anything outside off - just let it sail through.

A repeat of Lord's II is certainly not out of the equation.
But as much as that was chicken shittery of the highest order it was also due to the match situation - gazillions behind, not a great chance of saving the game and the only real batsman with the gumption (potentially) to hang in there got out early due to battle fatigue.
If similar circumstances arise then yep it's probably a dead cert.

Moeen wrecking Johnson for three boundaries in five balls - the crowd! Mentalists.
