A repeat of Lord's II is certainly not out of the equation.
But as much as that was chicken shittery of the highest order it was also due to the match situation - gazillions behind, not a great chance of saving the game and the only real batsman with the gumption (potentially) to hang in there got out early due to battle fatigue.
If similar circumstances arise then yep it's probably a dead cert.
Meh - it's not the first time - we've done such in much better match situations.

Poms edging ahead in the doom mongering stakes. Will horrie be fit for test 4, the Aussies are missing him badly.

They just need to cool it a tiny bit. The pitch isn't doing anything, they've got through Johnson's spell.
Milk it.
Don't throw it away with OTT cavalier shit.

Ali is certainly having fun. Clarke is looking a bit bemused and confused atm.

True - we've got the ability (if that is the right term in this context) to capitulate at the first sign of anything we don't know - pace, spin, a horrible bloke in row 26 who slated Bell.
But I don't think we're likely to do that 4 innings on the trot (excluding our inevitable 2nd innings collapse here when chasing a target of 120 and going from 65-1 to 93 all out).

It must be an OK pitch to bat - Broad is still in.
Must keep at it boys as I think Aus 2nd innings could be a biggie.

Come on FFS - yet another soft as shite dismissal.

Could look at it way (and given his previous form that adds weight to that point of view).
Equally, could say he was nicely in, he was in no immediate peril and was playing within his means - and should therefore have continued to play in that fashion.
Another 40 or 50 runs in that partnership should have been do-able.

I think most poms would have taken that when he walked in.

*sighs* Moeen attempts to go Napeshit. Instead he went Nopeshit. 278ao, no doubts.

As if to prove that throwing away a great position at 132-2 wasn't a fluke we've just done it again. High fives all round in the England dressing room. Ramps get yourself a cuppa and a pack of biccies - job well done again chief.

Yes - that's a fair point.
But given how seemingly easy they were making it look you then have the option to revise your judgment, or not if you're Broad and Ali.

That was bullshit. Handy lead, yes. But there seems to be as many demons in the pitch as a Furby convention. The sort of situation that Warner can tear up. We have to be right on the money, moreso than yesterday.

Aye boss you're not wrong.
Should have got another 40 runs minimum.
Warner and Smith are the keys again - as we've given up on getting Rogers out.
Bowling needs to be sharp otherwise that lead will evaporate rapidly and then we'll crap it big time.

145 is still a pretty handy lead when the other mob couldn't scrape up that many last time

Yep - but handy should have been made closer to unassailable.
Aus didn't bat wonderfully - some of them chucked it away but we did also get a few of them out with good balls.
We had 4 who got in, were playing fluently and gave their wickets away - Bell, Root, Ali, Broad. You'd have hoped that at least 1 of them would have gone on to score a ton. That carelessness could come back to hurt us.

Tried for a Watson. Too slow.
Lucky he didn't as that looked to be killing the stumps.
