The Somerset team he led had players that I like: Both, Viv, Joel, Brian Rose, Vic Marks.

Re: The "Things I like about Peter Roebuck"thread
He sacked at least half the players named by Rob I, and in at least one case, he shut up the sackee for a length of time that still stands as a record.
Apart from that, can't think of much....

Two of the five. Botham quit in protest. Vic and Brian stayed.

Geez, that's some record. Getting rid of Viv Richards and Joel Garner. Maybe he was sick of their long schlongs embarrassing his frankfurt in the sheds.

A point of minor difference. As I understand it his bluff was called. Both walked out expecting to be duchessed back, and for all I know he might still be waiting.

I wonder how many times Viv asked him out the back of the sheds to sort out their differences of opinion?

The two summers before the bust, Somerset, with Viv, Joel, Both and all, finished stone motherless last and second last.

More likely that they were not contributing much - Garner was only good for 40 wickets a season by then, and Viv was not making any more runs than their county players.
