Aust v England - Rugger
Three test series kicks off tonight. First time the teams have met since the Wobblies booted England out of the world cup. Aust hav'nt played since that final so can claim to be a little under done. England are now under the coaching of Eddie Jones who was a disaster when he had the Wallabies.Hard to predict the result of this one. England have never beaten Australia at Suncorp stadium so i guess the Wallabies will start favorite.
Re: Aust v England - Rugger
Geez - disaster is a bit harsh. He got Aust to extra time in a WC final.

Huge win. I like the attitude afterwards as well, despite being able to count victories in Australia on one hand everyone interviewed didn't get carried away and sounded focused on winning the series in the next match or even getting a clean sweep.
Still think Australia will come back and win at least one and probably 2, as BD says they haven't played for a while and they'll be stronger next test.

Nah, I saw it the other way around. England gave up a couple of tries early on and then dominated up front. I expect them get stronger as the tour progresses.

Re: Aust v England - Rugger
Didn't see it. Was the Aussie fade something to do with the long layoff? You'd think, with the superfitness regimes in place these days (esp in Aussie rugby), that wouldn't be such a factor.
Eddie certainly appears to be a good fit for England rugby. His formula "get them in best possible physical condition - inculcate the basic disciplines, charts and plays - then set them free to play" seems effective.
(The first thing he stressed when appointed was that some of the players simply weren't fast enough and physically hardened enough. But he seems also to have improved one of the banes of England rugby supporters' lives - a habit of criminally slow feeds from set and closed plays. As a ploy, on occasion, the delayed pass out from scrum, ruck or maul definitely has its place. But they've often looked physically incapable of creating pressure and exploiting gaps in the opposition defence: such that scrum halves have almost developed backstrain hanging around, and receivers fallen asleep waiting.)
Australia have a proud tradition of hitting back hard after a reverse: we'll have to see!

I love this sort of stuff:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/36508181
England boss Eddie Jones insists his side "didn't play well" despite the record-breaking victory over Australia.
The 39-28 win was England's first in Brisbane and the most points scored in any game against the Wallabies.
Jones told BBC Sport: "We didn't play well, let's face the facts. We weren't sharp in various areas, but we will be next week. (...)
England skipper Dylan Hartley said the players must not get carried away.
"I'm really proud for the guys that they can etch their names in history, but we need to keep our feet on the ground - our egos in check - we now need to go again next week," the hooker told BBC Sport.
"We're a grounded group, we want to win the series, [and] and all our focus and energy now can go into our second game in Melbourne," he added.
Just not sure about the "history" pitch. Okay, record win - but don't get carried away, indeed.

Too many wrong options out wide. Falou should be the recipient of the ball not the distributor. He can't making destructive runs every time or even most of the time he has the ball.
Nothing about the ref...anyone....huh....?

Jones was a very one dimensional coach. His tactics became so predictable, the opposition were standing in position, waiting for us before each play commenced. The worst thing was that he proved incapable of changing, even though it was obvious his playbook was'nt working.
Re: Aust v England - Rugger
Not Australia England's, but might as well put this here....
Chiefs doing the haka with spearmen by their side? No really WTF?
Completely aside from the Welsh second team's dismantling at the hands of the chiefs' second.

Well well well. History is made.
Some of those features before the series mocking the English look a bit silly now.

Odd - so far at least he's had almost the complete opposite effect on England.
Well, England won that via tigerish defence. The Aussie fightback was bound to come, and they held out - just - at times.
Joubert controversial again (as the Aussies pointed out, with some emphasis) - but once again, he's shown he can listen & reach a best judgment, instead of rushing to a dicey conclusion as he used to. Also, far more committed to letting play go wherever possible. (Whistle-happy in the past.) You can't ask more than that.
And the Boks show bouncebackability too. After getting booed off at H/T. ~ Should make for an interesting decider!
And here's some excellent news, for Wales - and good rugby everywhere: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/36562599

The handling error count proved to be the difference. Australia needs to tighten up on their basic skills.

Hard to think of a more inept Wallabies performance this century.

Aye. They had more than enough chances to win.
